Order to delivery time

I thought maybe it might have been someone else's but those specs were pretty difficult to find. That dealer didn't have any of those same color choices with those same specs in 2022. Seems unlikely that someone else suddenly wanted one.

We ordered a AWD Gravity Gray S in Feb 22, Still no VIN has been released yet. Salesman said 3 to 6 months. At first he gave us updates now he don't even let us know or answer our emails. So we decided to cancel that order and went to another dealer who has the same model arriving soon. This was in July. The VIN was released 7/25/22 and the salesman has bumped the date 3 times for arrival. She showed us the info for the delivery date and where it was dropped off last. The car has been sitting in a railyard drop off that is 30 miles from the dealership since 7/31/22. Now the ETA is 8/31/22. Anyone else experiencing these delays from the drop off points. The salesman said its out of their control. Is this a trucker shortage? or do they wait for more to arrive there?

I am LIVID!!! I was supposed to have my car last month. I haven’t even received my VIN or ETA. I’m so pissed that 2023s are rolling out the door when 2022s have even finished… My dealer constantly says she has no updates for me and she will tell me when she knows something. Really makes me regret doing this.

March to October seems like a really long time....7 months? Thought Gossett was decent?

So did I, that’s why we chose them in the first place instead of local! I’m about to call to talk to the manager of sales to see what the hell is going on.

I ordered July 6 '21 and received Jan 28 '22. so yea 7mo. when I picked it up I was told new orders, the wait could be up to 13 mo. I wouldn't have waited the 7 had I known when I ordered. But I do love my telly.

It took 7 months for mine through Finnin. So that seems normal.

I waited 9months for mine.........

I've purchased 2... first one took 9 months then after owning it for 3 weeks totalled. The second one took about 6 months.

Abby bell,
I know it sucks but the dealer is not concerned about whether you take the vehicle or not because it will sell regardless. The problem is that Kia is not communicating very well with anyone (to include it’s dealers). I placed my order on December 16, 2021 and was told it would take 12-16 weeks. Well, here I am still waiting. I got a call this weekend from my dealer stating they were ordering me a 2023. I guess I’m cool with that. Good luck.

Many of us ordered cars in the fall of 2019 and were promised cars in early spring 2020. Then Covid hit. We were told delays were due to Covid plant shutdowns and supply chain issues. When Kia began building cars again in late spring/early summer of 2020, we were hearing through this forum that the newly announced Nightfall edition vehicles were being produced ahead of our cars. Keep in mind the Nightfall edition trim didn't even exist when we placed our orders and yet those people were ordering their cars AND receiving them ahead of the 2019 orders!! Like you, I was livid. I typed a letter to the President and CEO of Kia in South Korea, (you can find his name and fax number on the internet), and also cc'd a copy of my letter to the President and CEO of Kia North America (based in California). I faxed my letter to South Korea about 6:30 in the morning Eastern standard time. By 1:00 p.m. I received a phone call from the Southeast regional sales manager who had been contacted by both Korea and California executives and he told me he was "instructed to find me a vehicle that matched my order and get it to me ASAP." He called and told me that that's what he would do: he would find a vehicle that matched my orders specs and would have it delivered to me. I told him that I was monitoring failcat everyday and that NO vehicle that matched my order specs had been built or would be available for him to ship to me, according to Failcat. He did not believe me but told me he would call me back by 5:00 the following day. He seemed very assured that he was going to locate a vehicle that he said it would be delivered to me, "by orders of the CEO of Kia in South Korea." Needless to say that gentleman called me at 4:55 p.m. the next day to tell me that there was no equivalent vehicle that had been built in the last few months that would match my specifications. (This was in July 2020.) He was able to confirm that my EXACT build date would be October 16th, 2020 and that my vehicle would then be delivered to my dealer within 2 to 3 weeks of that date. He said he was instructed to "move things along" to get me my vehicle. He then asked if I was willing to wait until October or was I going to go to Honda or Toyota to purchase another vehicles (as I told him I had already explored them and would be perfectly happy buying a different vehicle than a Kia.). He said that the CEO of Kia South Korea and North America "heard me loud and clearly" and "understood my frustration" about having a brand new trim line model vehicle being built ahead of people who had placed orders 8 to 10 months before and still had not received them. Within a week or so the Nightfall edition manufacturing was cut severely and those that had ordered vehicles but not yet received them were prioritized. And my vehicle VIN number did pop up on failcat exactly on October 16th as promised. There were that many vehicles ahead of mine that still needed to be built that were not Nightfall editions. The day my car rolled off the line and passed all of the factory required inspections it was put on a truck and shipped to Kia of Muncie, Indiana. Lucas called me that morning to tell me the vehicle was getting ready to be loaded onto a transport truck and said to expect a minimum of 4 to 5 days for transportation to Kia of Muncie dealership. He called later that SAME night and told me to his huge surprise and amazement that my vehicle arrived at their dealership 9 hours later!

SO MY ADVICE: GET ON THE INTERNET, LOOK UP THE CEO'S NAME AND BANG OUT A LETTER TO HIM TELLING HIM HOW UNHAPPY YOU ARE WITH KIAS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TREATMENT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH LONG-STANDING ORDERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN FULFILLED!!

It worked for me... True Story. Just call Lucas and he'll confirm it.

Ordered 2022 EX AWD Ebony Black/Black on 1/4/22.
Picked up on 9/8/22. Nine months and four days.

We can now build a new human faster than a car, who would have thought...

We ordered our AWD s in January and got a call today that we would be getting a 2023 and the eta was 10/21. Very long process. Really wanted the 22 but that’s not gonna happen

Thank you so much for the advice!

Keep us posted man!
Guess who just found out 2 hours ago that their order was canceled 3 months ago?! ME! There is smoke coming out of my ears at this point. The ordering manager called me and told me this and then proceeded to talk about switching over to a 23. I’ll be traveling the 3 hours back to Memphis to have this discussion in person on Saturday WITH A LIST OF DEMANDS. I don’t care that I’m not the first person this has happened to, I don’t care I’m not the only one. This shouldn't happen to anyone period. Any advice?

Start over at a better dealer. You think you won’t get screwed over again?!?!

My ordered thru Peak Kia North in 3/2/22 was told about 5-6 mo and the latest news is the car on track to arrive in 2 weeks. I don’t want MY23 so with the roll out new model now I thought for sure order didn’t make the cut. That being said as for advice i don’t know that i would take a 3hr drive but I supposed if you like MY23 then get them to put your order in and of course no ADM.
