Order to delivery time

In the past, Kia has punished dealerships that submitted fake orders or diverted orders to someone other than the person that ordered (basically selling to the highest bidder). It is possible that some dealerships are unable to order - but some don't want to order - they just want to sell what they get allocated on the open market. But, Facebook (wastebook) is not a good source for authoritative information. Bored salesperson at your dealership may have read the same post and interpreted it as fact!

Also, you should state the "local dealer" that you called so we can verify. Also, if you're waiting, state order date, dealership, trim, and order number - that will also help us verify info.
Thanks for that info. I didn't believe him that's why i'm still waiting for my order.

You didn’t post the information on your order or dealer. This would be helpful in verifying you are not a troll.

I was told 3-4 months lead time 14 weeks ago. My car hasn’t even been allocated yet.

if anyone is saying anything less than 6 months, don’t believe them if it’s an SX.

True. I'll take it a step back then. Maybe it's bit of semantics but ETA would be a clearer time frame/date given by KIA, correct? For example, an order that was placed today wouldn't have an "ETA" attached to it until a later. The salesperson could say "it will take 6-8 weeks" but wouldn't be able to say the "I've been given the ETA of 2/26" or whatever date. Is that correct? That was how I understood it at least so I could definitely be wrong. If it is that way then how firm are those ETA's?

Those ETAs are okay. The wildcard is transportation. Once the vehicle enters "In Transit" it effectively leaves the plant, and all kinds of delays could happen. If everything goes as planned, then the ETA would be accurate. Vehicle will probably arrive sooner. I once had an ETA delayed over a month - but I believe that the transport vehicle caught fire with the original vehicle. So, anything is possible. That's one reason why there's variance.

Thanks! That's helpful. Obviously delays can always happen but it's good to know they are relatively stable dates and potentially earlier.

Also, note that if you get a VIN (and it shows up on the production spreadsheet on forum with a window sticker) then the vehicle is built - it just needs to be transported to your dealership. That's the point when you should get excited... unless you're really far away from Georgia, and it's not holiday time, delivery should be less than a month.

Hey, I live in Georgia...you can just let me know that you have your KIA on the way and I'll be excited for you regardless of where you live :-) Mine has to go from Georgia to Muncie, IN and back again, 7 weeks in, no notification of progress yet but I'm hopeful every day :)

My dealer told me my white sxp looks like it will get to them in Feb. He told me they had one with eta of Jan 28 and it arrived Jan 1. We will see what happens. I ordered 9-12-19

Is KIA's price increase going to affect existing orders (I got KIA order number but no VIN)?

See this thread for a whole discussion. The answer is possibly. More than likely yes.

I ordered my Jeep Wangler. I like how they printed my name on the sticker at the factory. It felt very personalized.

I ordered November 29th. Still waiting for my SX-P Black Copper. Called me dealer a d he says they haven't heard anything about my order yet. But said backlog around 6 months for people who ordered after me. Patience is the name of this game at this point. I'm fortunate not to be pressed for a vehicle so going to wait it out. Suspect cost will exceed $50k in 2021. My thoughts.

Hi Mark.... we ordered our SX-P as well around the same time: 11/11/19. Just spoke to the ordering manager and said an ETA of February 22 but no VIN number. Have you gotten any additional information about your order???
I was told should be mid February

This is cool idea. Then a dealer couldn’t “accidentally” sell it to another customer for more money.

Which Interior did you go with? I heard Butterscotch is 6 months, but we were told 13-16 weeks for our SX-P Black Copper w/ Dune.
