• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

Standard for 3 years! Then you pay! Mine expires 6/2022

How did you get three years? I know Canada gets five but I’ve only seen one year offered here in the states.

Ok thanks. I just picked up the S model yesterday and didn’t see the climate control on the app.

Hey Lou,
Check it in a couple of days. Let me know if it stays 3 years or if it changes to only 1 year like mine did.
My dealer told me 5 years. Every year it expires and you just renew it for free for 5 years. I questioned my dealer in it and they said nope, 5 years. So if it's less they will be paying the fee for me!

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.
Did you order that from your service department? I don’t think my dealership knows that’s even possible! What exactly would I be asking for?

Yes I added into my deal when I purchased. Still not released yet but it allows your current key fob to be programmed to start the vehicle remotely using a button sequence.

I have read on the Kia web site thst the the Telluride comes with remote start as standard as long as you have the UVO app and subscription. When I asked the Kia dealer they said it does not have remote start. Does anyone know what the answer is?
The UVO app works as a starter when you select "Climate Control". You need to select a temperature. Car will start and the doors will lock (if unlocked).

Is that why I dont see a start? I see lock/unlock on the security tab only. But there is a climate tab

Hi everyone! I'm new here and went to check out a Telluride today. Needless to say I will become an owner soon, but it's been extremely difficulty to find an SX with prestige package here in the bay area. Anyway, I'm a little curious as to why people want the remote start on their keyfob vs just using the app? I own an accord hybrid that has this function, but every time I want to remote start from the keyfob, I'm already at the car and ready to go, so it seems pointless. It's inconveniant unless you're within keyfob distance 24/7. When I'm at work getting ready to leave for the day or anywhere else that I have to park my car far away, I would love to be able to start my car and set a desired temperature with an app.

BTW, my dealer told me remote start is unavailable as well and that I would have to go get a 3rd party installation for that. That's what brought me here :)
Gm vehicles have a far reaching remote, several hundred feet or even further depending on conditions.

One of the few things I like about gm.

So you could start from a good distance while walking up to your car, from your office or home, or even from hotel window 10 stories up in some cases.

I also use remote start about 10-15 seconds before getting in the car so the engine oil starts flowing since I usually put car in drive right away. Would be very annoying with an app.

Hyundai palisade has it on the fob. I’m willing to bet that the fob can be paired to a telluride and it will work. I doubt they used a different module for the telluride and the palisade, just a different key.

So maybe you can buy a palisade remote, program it and get it to work.

Worth a shot if anyone wants to try. Then maybe someone can make a kia logo fit on the palisade key.

The uvo app, but it sucks, doesn't work half of the time and after a year you have to pay for it

@Audioi How can you do it for free? The dealership told me they had to order a part for it and would let me know once it came in. Once it is installed its supposed to be a button combination on the key fob but it has to be programmed.
Hello @Razorback
Did you ever completed the change needed to bypass the APP for remote start? If so can you provide the details, part number, cost etc? Seem the service fee will be around $20 a month now, pretty expensive.
Thanks

Kia app is far from perfect, but it's not terrible either. I've used the remote start a couple of times. There's a slight delay for the signal to go to the satellite and then back to your Telly, but it works just fine.

Not yet, my trailer hitch arrived but the dealership is still waiting for the remote start to come in. I will share info once it arrives.

Any chance you can get the part number? I just called my dealer and he said he can’t find that option anywhere to install

You have to get the Kia UVO app. You can only start it with a smart phone it’s not on the key fob.
Is climate on / off the same as remote start. I assume to turn the climate control on in must start the engine. My app is not have an option for the start engine......
