The ebay kit DOES NOT come with a T harness and there are 11 wires to connect + the hood pin. I just shipped it back. It required splicing into the ignition harness which is exactly what I spent extra money to avoid.
You might as well get the flash programmer ($41) and the Evo-One off of Amazon ($90) because there is nothing special about the $228 one on ebay except they put the (wrong) splice connectors on the correct wires and programmed it for you. You should never use splice connectors. Stab and wrap your wires and for ignition wires you should use solder. All other methods have been shown to fail over time. Fortin directly mentions this as well in the installation FAQ.
I've installed enough remote starters to know I don't want to splice an ignition harness with aftermarket gear on a one year old car.
I'm going to try to work with the KIA dealer again and see what factory options they have now that the car has been out a year. I may end up back at the aftermarket solution if there are no other reasonable choices and I'll take the risk to get a reliable modern convenience.
