• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

Hey I agree with all of the above. I went out and got a remote start for my 2020 Telluride from my local vehicle up fitter and it works great. They integrated with the factory remote so no need for two remotes and the climate control system comes on and conditions the car to what ever you had it set at when you last got out. The cost of this was 280.00 plus tax. A much better cheaper alternative than the cost of UVO.

Which system did your local outfit install? I'm looking to do something soon before winter hits.

This Accessorides 3xLock w/out Takeover seems awfully easy to install, but I would like to know the line of sight range before I pull the trigger on it. I'm used to my Ford factory auto start, which has very little range. Maybe 100-200 feet line of sight.

Nevermind.... I found the DIY MEGATHREAD by @Tellthemride on this forum. Really awesome post! Thank you!

However, I would still like some real world numbers on range of the 3xLock system.

The Accessorides kit does not change the range of your OEM key fob. The range you currently have to lock/unlock will be the same for 3X press remote start.

  • Does not have to be line of sight if you are about 50 feet away (depending on type of building/obstruction)
  • Can work from about 100 feet line of sight
  • About 300 feet line of sight if you hold the fob to your chin so your head amplifies the signal.
These numbers are using your OEM fob in general, stock from factory. (ie for locking doors or opening lift gate)

Makes complete sense. Not sure why I didn't think of that. Thanks for all you've done on this topic. I think I'll be doing CarLink w/takeover. Hard to beat that price per month after the free first year and the $99.99 for 3 years.

I may have missed this due to the long thread and I apologize if I did.
Has anyone found out from their dealer if installing the takeover 3x oem start from accessorides voids any warranty on their 2020?

Installed the kit from Accessorides. Was $300 for the basic, no override setup.
- Took about 20 min.
- Highly recommend removing the glove box - very easy.
- Wasn't sure where to stash the control unit, so I just shoved it in behind the cables.
- Programming was easy - hard to find the little button.

UVO runs out in a week...was hoping all along the price would come down, but they want $25+ per month and with the LX, I wouldn't even get climate control. Good riddance.

Hmmm...interesting.

My subscription ends next month and the UVO portal has my info for renewal...with 33% off (offer good until Dec 2020)

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.
Thank you for this forum and your participation.

Got my Telly last week and am still in the exploring/learning stage. Remote start works via the app on my phone, but does not work with the smart key.

I just called the salesman, and his response was "it worked when you got the car!". Then I was told where the button is, and to press it, apparently thinking I did not know that!
He then said that I need to activate this feature from the car. So far I have not found any reference in the manual pointing to this feature. Maybe that function needs to be enabled????

This forum will no doubt provide more knowledge than the dealership!

Please tell me how to get the part to add to the smart key fob to enable remote start. And can I install it myself?

Thank you in advance!

Uvo app isn’t the greatest. Mine makes me lock the doors from the app, even if I locked them when I get out of the car. So it’s really two steps to start it. You’d think it would know if they are locked or not?
Thank you for posting this!
You answered a question I had for the salesman, which he could not answer:
"Why did the app send me a message on three successive days that a door was not locked?"
All doors were indeed locked, but the app did not know that!

If you have a 2021, all you have to do is press lock on your key, followed immediately by holding the start button for several seconds. That's it.

YES!
It worked!
Thanks!

Needed to add a great answer I just received:
With the 2021, press the lock button, then immediately hold the start button on the back side of the smart key, and the car starts!
It worked!

To remote start, hit the lock button twice on the key fob. Then press and hold down the start button and the car will start. You can also start it with the UVO app or through Alexa/ Google.
I have all three options and it works perfectly fine. With the Alexa / Google option don’t rush the process. Two different systems have to talk to each other. It will start, I had no issues..

Thank you for your response; it has been such a relief to receive competent help. And yes, it works very well now!

Just to be clear, you only have to press lock once to get the process started. I've seen this misinformation a lot. It's unnecessary. But if it makes you feel better hitting it twice, you do you.

Here's more info here, from page 4-10 of your owner's manual.
