What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

I bought from Napleton Kia in Palm Beach Gardens and had a great experience. Stephen was my salesman and I did not pay over MSRP. I bought the s model it might be different if.you want the top model
I ordered an SXP from Napleton Kia on 4 April. Jon Brown was my salesman. No word yet as to ETA. Was yours for lease or purchase? Did you order (when?) it or was it on the lot? And was the $44,500 after incentives? MSRP without accessories should be about $47000. My order has MSRP of $47435 for the SXP AWD plus a few minor accessories.

Wait... You are a "Banking CEO, CFO, CLO, ABC, 123, ETC" and you really just advocated for sinking 5 large into a down payment on a lease to reduce monthly payments? Wouldn't you advocate for a consumer to, oh I don't know... Put that 5000 dollars into a BANK and draw down from it to put towards their monthly as necessary, which effectively results in the same payment with virtually zero risk, not to mention interest (as lousy as that may be at the moment)?

No, that's not what I said.

There is no purely right or wrong answer. Just the answer that an individual believes puts them in the financial position they desire. The MF on these leases is close to 5% per annum. Even going out 30 years in a US Treasury, which is as close as you can get to a zero risk return, can you get better than 3.0%.

Purchase - on lot - MSRP was a few dollars less than $47k. I paid $44,500 plus TTL.

My newest car was 2011, so no love there... They didn't tell me I could do 1.9% and get the $1500. They said the $1500 was from a Kia and I'd finance at a higher rate, closer to 5%. So I opted 48 months at 0.9%

When I read your story in this thread, it looks like you're in Colorado Springs and working with Peak Kia where I got a overpriced quote. I felt they were shady as they were not clear about the price I would pay when I put an order.
It seems like you already submitted a case to Kia customer service which I'd suggest. I assume you submitted the case to https://ksupport.kiausa.com/ConsumerAffairs

I'm in Colorado and bought a SX at MSRP, and received all Kia rebates($2500) including $1500 KMF rebate with 1.9% APR for 48 months. You must be eligible for $1500/1.9%/48 months, too.

You are spot on. Did you submit a complaint? Did you end up using Phil Long?

Does anybody know if Kia offers the $1500 rebate since when? It is expiring at the end of this month. I was thinking of taking advantage of that and place an out of state order for a telly, use the rebate to ship it back to California. It’s like paying msrp for it. My concern is that when my Telly arrives the rebate might be expired hence no rebate to cover for the shipping cost 😂. Some guy working for Kia dealer told me Kia might offer newer and better rebate starting 7/1. I’d like to know the rebate history if anyone knows about it. Thank you.

It’s a brand new car. Nobody knows what will happen until it happens.

I have not submitted a complaint about dealer, but that you'd get help from that customer care web site.
I got my Telluride from Tynan's Kia in Fort Collins. It's two-hour drive, but it was worth for me. If you'd like, you can call Nicole at Tynan's and tell that Doug, a Korean guy from Colorado Springs referred her.

You can find my detailed purchasing story in this post.

You all need to understand that the dealer owns the vehicle. If they've done nothing unethical, your complaints are a waste of time and attention.

As the buyer, the emphasis is on you to ensure your assumptions are detailed in the agreement. If not, that is your problem, not Kia's.

I agree with you, which is why I already bought the car. My issue is that he committed me to a “contract”, for which I have a paper stating more or less the terms. He made it seem like I couldn’t back out. I told him I was committed. Had he told me he was going to charge more than msrp, then I wouldn’t have been surprised. The fact of the matter is that he ran several scenarios all surrounding msrp when he was pitching the vehicle to me back in March. And when we went to get the car he said we could back out of it at any time, which is not what he initially stated. I don’t appreciate getting jerked around. Don’t be shady, and just say what the price is up front instead of the approach he chose.

It’s too late for me, but I appreciate the referral.

How can any contract be legal without a purchase price??

You are exactly correct. I put my lame brain story on here so others can be much wiser. I had thought we had agreed on a price. Looking back, we only had a gentleman’s agreement. Apparently your word and a handshake is worthless at this dealership. Why would I pay a $1000 for them to order a car I didn’t intend on buying? They knew my intent, and then Jerjes me around. That’s my beef.

I appreciate your honesty here. Not many people would put this out there. However, I surely wouldn’t let this go. I would send this to Kia corporate and tell them you understood the price to be msrp (which is a reasonable assumption) and then were held hostage with your deposit and your emotions to pick up the car under duress at a much higher price. At the same time, I would find a friend who is an attorney and have them send a letter to the dealership threatening suit if they don’t refund you everything over msrp. That agreement cannot have any legal merit to it.

No price is listed, so it's not a binding contract for MSRP. I don't think you'll be able to do anything except get your deposit back... I'm no lawyer though so ask one.

Per the letter you show, nothing was unfulfilled. Learn and grow wiser.

I don’t think it’s legal to accept a non refundable deposit for a car at ANY price. It allows the dealer to scam every single customer that signs it and leaves a deposit. “Your telluride is in. We want $100k for it. What? You don’t want it? Ok. We are keeping your deposit as per agreement.” I don’t think that would hold up anywhere.
