What membership plan are you on? Goldstar or Executive?I was quoted just $500 below MSRP for an SX using Costco earlier this week.
Overall, I think you get what you pay for and it’s worth every penny thus far. Stay tuned!
I don’t understand if you are paying way over 700 dollars why you just wouldn’t buy it. That’s a lot of money to put out to have nothing at the end. Just curious....I spent months shopping and waiting. I live in NJ and went to DE, PA, and NJ dealers. There are no good deals off MSRP for the model I wanted because of the high demand on the SX prestige in white with gray interior.
Dealers low balled me on my Nissan Altima trade in so I decided to obtain the title and sell on my own. Some more headaches involved, but I got 2k more than the dealer offered.
I put down 1k down on that above mentioned Telluride for them to essentially hold my spot when one came in in late June. They were charging $1500 ABOVE MSRP but that’s one of best deals I could find in this area. They contacted me this past Monday and mine finally arrived. I had them pick me up and ultimately decided on a 15k/year lease for 36 months. I put $500 down and the first payment is due in 30 days. I worked out them to install towing hitch because this did not come with a towing package so it has no self leveler.
All in I’m paying $795 a month for 36 months, which is $28,600 over lease term and residual value is $26,000. Total is $54000 plus any interest rate if I refinanced after lease buyout. I decided not to buy because of the fact this is a new car and we do not know how it will good it’s value yet. I would not be surprised if they raised this MSRP on the 2021 SX by 2-3K as so many people are trying to get their hands on this still and the price point is unbelievable for all the features you get. As a competitive person and a business oriented mind, this did hurt to know I didn’t get a good deal, but I do believe it’s totally worth the cost. I have received so many compliments and people stopping me to ask about the car.
Also, I bought the K emblems on here and will be doing the rebadging and also purchased red K emblem brake caliper covers. I will post how it looks once I complete that. See photos below of current setup. It’s a really nice car and smooth to drive.

FYI I’m a 33 year old male with a wife and 3.5 year old daughter, 9 month old son, and a chocolate lab dog and we can fit comfortably.

It would be a real win if the true market value is only $20,000-$21,000 instead of $26,000 in 3 years... for all our sakes, I hope not! Depreciation like that would be worse than Mercedes!
[
Mainly just because of the depreciation and at least having an option after 3 years to analyze and see what makes sense...if the value is way less that the buy out then I can get out of it and get into another new vehicle..I hope it holds its value and I can buy it out, but I’ll see how it looks...plus I’m skeptical there will be issues with new car they just started making and decided to lease for the same reason to get out of it if I have to. Leasing is not for everybody, but for my family it makes sense, as my wife has a car and I have a work SUV I can drive whenever want so it works for us.I don’t understand if you are paying way over 700 dollars why you just wouldn’t buy it. LOL thanks. I’ll let you know how it goes and what we decide after lease.Beautiful vehicle! Enjoy it! When lease is up, let me know and I'll buy it if you don't!![]()

WowThanks to this forum, was glad to come across and joining after my intense research. Here is my very first order in Aug. when I was trying to get the Telluride at first, I was more like blindfolded and almost fall a victim. The ride finally came yesterday and the dealership insist on selling at $53,000 before TT&L. It's a SXP, Black copper, with few add-ons.
Below is our conversation after seeing the picture sent to me that my car has arrived:
"Me:
Wow...that is so nice! Is that ebony black(EB) or black copper(BCP) ? Cos I remember the first I ordered was BCP and AWD with prestige package and few add-ons. The second was EB, FWD with lots of add-ons. The picture looks like EB, and I can see it is AWD. Which of the order is that? Also, what is the buyer's order (Out of the door-OTD) price? At MSRP?
Dealer:
This is the black copper SX Prestige AWD. Idk what the otd price is but the price before TT&L is $53,550. No dealer add ons or anything just $53,550 plus TT&L.
Me:
You said that is the price before TT&L? MSRP for that build(SXP, BC Ext, Dune Brown Nappa Int. AWD, Add-on: CN,CF, MUG, RSP, WL) plus destination fee is $47,045. TT&L will be close to about $3200 I guess. But you're saying before TT&L is $53,550 which means plus TT&L will be about $57,000?
Dealer:
Yes. We've gone over this before. The market price for these vehicles right now it about 6 over msrp.
Me:
remember you said that, that other dealerships charges 6-7k but you still didn't say exactly what vanguard's market price would be and that, until the car arrives. Now that I know, I truly cannot afford that. Remember that was why I opted for a new order without the AWD, prestige package. To be honest, some dealerships sells exactly at MSRP as the market price without any dime added. Regardless, IF I could make it tomorrow morning between the hrs of 8:30 - 9am, I would come take a look. I really wanna see supposedly my car.
Dealer:
I understand that some other dealerships say that they dont sell over MSRP but most if not all of them are. As far as our price it has actually gone down since the first time you came in, we were selling the prestige package for 8k over. As far as your other order I'm not even sure if that was even filled yet. But you have to look at this car from a purely value standpoint. If you were to go to Chevy or dodge to get a similarly equipped vehicle you would easily spend 20k-30k more on those cars. I would love to show it tomorrow if it's still here like I said it's a very highly sought after trim and color combo.
At least come in and test drive it. It is a fantastic vehicle.
Me:I will TRY in the morning to come down before work, not guaranteed as my schedule is SO tight really but I would love to test drive it also. I did my homework on lots of vehicles but chose that cos of its luxury, safety, design, technology, durability(its drive off road), it's ranking, numbers of seats. I did my research really. To be honest a car of about $50,000 is no joke at all. I know the limit of what I can afford at this time. A car above $50k is kinda extravagant for me right now to be realistic but taking care of my family(safety wise on the road) is paramount to me"
Me trying to be polite, avoiding telling them GFY because we were very close communicating almost everybody. Customer service was 99.9%, I give them that.
Attached is the picture.
My membership is executive. THe dealer was Napleton's Elgin Kia in Illinois. What membership plan are you on? Goldstar or Executive?
People are getting 1200, 1300 through Costco of MSRP. Guess the issue is from your dealership. You should get more than $500My membership is executive. THe dealer was Napleton's Elgin Kia in Illinois.
Funny you got me thinking abut the markup and I reviewed the paper work and it is 100% only $1500 markup. The MSRP for this SX with prestige in white exterior with the freight and handling is $47,030 and it was marked up to $48,515. Then, with the tax/tags/ and 6.6% tax in NJ it was an out the door price of $52,063.60 all in. Again, with the 3.5% financing lease rate for 36 months and the residual of $26,000 it’s right there around $800 a month on the 36 month lease.I dunno brother, but that sounds like a $10k markup to me.
Yeah if I were you and you think you won’t get sick of it then hold onto it get it paid off in 5 years and if you keep it for 10 years with those type of low miles you will be in a good spot.I have always leased that’s why I was curious. Just sick of having nothing at the end of a lease and paying all that money. I don’t even put 10000 miles a year. So I decided to buy it my payment would be 900 approximately maybe less for 5 years then I would have no payment for the next and if I get a new one at the end of ten years hopefully I will have some money from the sale for a decent down payment. ..... I hope lol. I too am a bit worried though about problems with the new vehicle.

WOW!! I wish you were in Delaware. We have placed orders today with zero issues.
Damn that’s a bummer. The one I wanted exactly ended up coming into the dealer eventually so keep your fingers crossed and I know we all want great deals, but unless you want until this wave slows down and the demand lessens, then you’ll be about that range of MSRP or little over. I suggest putting down a small down payment with a reputable dealer and they’ll prioritize you so when the one you want comes in you are the first one notified and no risk of someone coming in and burying it before you.I was quo
