What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

I like this strategy. Only I’m gonna tell them 6K under invoice.

Actually my real strategy is to wait a few months until real discounts (and the Palisade, which I’m also seriously considering) appear. Then I’m gonna search Auto Trader/Car Gurus for the lowest price in the country and ask a local dealer to beat the price.

My goal is 41K max for an SX Prestige (hey, that’s 6K under sticker!), maybe 42.5 for whatever the all-in Palisade is.
Just watch your local dealers. I have one by me that has had the same 6 Tellurides on the lot for over a week. I know this because I write down the vin #'s. Out of 4 dealers around me only 3 were sold. Every other car maker is knocking off thousands this time of year. I was quoted the other day 42k for a brand new 2020 fully loaded Highlander platinum and that was just through an email. If I went in I could probable shave off even more Ill give it a couple more days then see how desperate KIA dealers are to sell one. Ill be asking 6k under MSRP on the SX. They only sold 50k units last year and if they double or triple their supply this year there will be plenty of bargaining going on.

We purchased our fully loaded 2020 SX-P nearly 18 months ago at $42,917 after rebates (MSRP was over $48k). Please note this price point is not attainable, so dealers will laugh at you to ask for it.

So far, it has proved to be a solid purchase: with 17,000 miles on it as it is still worth more than we paid for it. Clean trade in is $47,550. That is over $4,600 more than I paid. Even rough trade is $44,575.

Whilst the manufacture makes suggestions, the market determines the value/price paid, accordingly. The market proves the Telluride is worth more than MSRP.

Kia sold every Telluride they made last year. New vehicles by other manufacturers that are being discounted right now are not valued by the marketplace: they are like the remaining produce at the end of a 3 day super sale - leftovers. You can’t compare the leftovers to the perfect fruit, lol.

Goals that are not realistic or attainable are known as folly: you will learn that you will not be getting a new SX for anywhere near your folly price.

No Im talking new 2021 models of better fruit. KIA is the dollar store brand sold at a flea market at a crazy cost increase.

What color?
What color did you get? I'm also working with Kia of Irvine and they said the "best" they can do is $3500. Regardless of color, $0 markup vs $3500 is very different. What did you with negotiating? Tips?

I've ordered at MSRP in North TX - very satisfied with that as it seems a lot of dealers are charging significantly more than MSRP. I was also able to order mine with the color & most important options, with perhaps a 3 month wait, we'll see. Another local dealer has a non-negotiable $895 surcharge that includes window ceramic tint, pinstriping and nitrogen in the tires. The only thing I really would have liked is the window tint but I'll probably be happier getting it done myself after delivery anyway. Military $400 rebate should still be available once the car is ready and the sales agreement gets finalized.
It's great you got an ETA so quickly! I ordered in October and still no ETA. Not even sure when it will make it to KFOS.

Hey!! I guess dealers think the Tellurides that come to California are special and I found one for $2500 over and that was the best I did. That is why I’m using Stephen Cantrelle here on this website. He will ship your car to you for approximately one dollar a mile from Carrollton, Texas. Along with the pleasure of working with Stephen over other salesman who lied to me, I welcome this experience and recommend it totally! I am making a total vacation of it and flying in to pick up my car and driving it back to grass Valley California. That’s the best way to break in an engine anyway
I couldn't find any dealer in California that was less than $5K over MSRP (except Hilltop).

Wow, the Highlander is a decent comparable (subjective, I know). Must be even with increased production they can't build enough Tellurides?

The rear seat leg room in the Highlander does not compare to the Telluride. That is my number one reason for purchasing the Telluride since I have a disabled son that is always with me.

I much prefer the Telluride as well. Hopefully production picks up and it becomes easier to buy at MSRP.

Scott - I'm in TX - can you DM the dealer and POC...thanks.

What toyota dealership? Can you share the salesman's email? Thanms

I test drove one today (EX model), they had 4 at the dealership I went to. They didnt seem to know of any promotions, I didnt feel like playing that game and said like me know when you can take 5-6k of the sticker. Dont think Ill be getting a call anytime soo.
Ugh, no, you won't. The nickname for the Telluride is the "Selluride" because they sell them about as fast as they get'em. MSRP is a good deal. that is what i ordered mine at.

For Northern NJ Buyers

Just purchased an EX Premium, Nightfall, Towing Pkg, and Mats for $1,750 over MSRP from Bridgewater KIA (sticker was +$3,500) w/1.9% financing. While I'm not exactly celebrating for paying over MSRP this was by far the best I could do among the four closest dealers to me. I'm pretty sure they would have gone down to +$1,500 if I played the walking game but I've been shopping for a while and wanted to move on with my life. Only downside is patience required as they're not exactly fast at this dealership.

I've seen recent posts about this price compared to some luxury brands so I'll weight in there as well, while not trying to be confrontational. This Telluride is replacing a 2018 Acura MDX, our 7th MDX over the years. We've clearly been loyal to Acura but we just didn't love the 2018 for a number of reasons so decided to move on. The Telluride checked all of the boxes for whats important to us and what we're used to in our MDX's so paying several thousand less for what appears, on paper at least, to be a better vehicle seems reasonable. Time will tell...

Appreciate all of info shared on this forum and will now be moving over to the owner content! Cheers

I went looking at a SX-P, black on gray, this morning at my local dealer here in Knoxville, TN. They had a markup of $13000 from sticker. Are people actually paying ~$65k for these things? The salesperson I talked to said the factory wasn't taking new orders but that they could come off the markup "a little" if I'm serious. I've read a few people on here have ordered new from a dealer (in TX maybe) for around MSRP. Is that not still an option? I prefer the Telluride to the Palisade but not for that price difference.

Your logic makes sense to me. I think this car has a lot of value for its price, so paying a bit over isn't tragic. I now know, having found this forum afterwards, that I was lucky to get mine a bit under MSRP. But I think you're going to find you got a lot of car for your money.

If you’re in Knoxville, Superior Kia in Cincinnati will take an order and when I last spoke to them it was $1,000 off MSRP
for orders. Sweeney Kia in Florence, KY is another option. Sweeney makes you take their protection package at $400. I walked away from an October delivery from them out of principle.
