Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Spencry: I couldnt private message you for some reason.
I am also looking at Tower - how do their process work? my previous vehicle also financed by a CU outside my state Overnighted (to my house) a cashiers check made payable to the dealer. I took the check and gave to the dealer signed some forms and was out in an hour. Does Tower do the same thing? or did they want to work with the dealer themselves?
Any detail would help - I am looking to finance through Tower for Arapahoe who apparently (I havent been told directly by them) dont take outside financing per forum members here.
They will overnight a check to you or the dealer, I had them send it directly to the dealer.

You do need a signed purchase order though so you might not be able to walk with the car the same day unless you sign the paperwork early.

The whole process takes a few weeks but it's pretty smooth.

No. I would call him every few months and I would be told the timeframe mentioned in Feb is still true. I got a call in Oct (I think?) that Kia wasn't making 2022s anymore and to talk about the 2023 car. Then, I called again in Nov asking for an update and was told I'm still on track for either Dec or Feb. Then I got a call a couple of days ago that "my car" was here.
Picked up my car today. The process was pretty easy with Lev Kia. Met with her finance manager (Peter), he tried to sell us a number of different warranties and packages but after trying politely a couple of times, I told him that I'll let him know later and he was ok with it (I'll share the pricing I got from him so can compare to others). Got financing through them knowing that there aren't any prepayment penalties so will refinance soon. The whole process in the office took about 20 mins. We then waited about another 30 mins in the Service Center waiting room while they registered the car.

Given that it's the end of the month, they told me that it would be another 1 hour to have state emissions inspection completed but we couldn't wait so I'll be going back in a couple of days for that.

Overall, a very pleasant experience and would definitely buy more cars from them.

NOTE: Got a little nosy and snooped at an invoice of someone who had their car maintenance completed (regular oil change) and they charged $57.

Unfortunately in Texas from all of my searching 2k over is the best I could find to buy immediately. Most were 3k to 6k packages.
MSRP in Texas still requires 6 to 12 month waitlist
I just ordered an SX 2 wks ago and have an ETA of 2/20 delivery….here in Texas. Things are changing from what they used to be a few months ago.

I don't understand why the emissions inspection wasn't done prior to you getting there.

Seems like it would have been an abandoned order rather than a custom order to get it that quickly. Was it MSRP? Which dealer?

I posted a similar note on the MSRP thread - but certainly fitting to this thread as well...

It’s via a post from Chris Imler of Freedom Kia of Morgantown that I found him! Glad to see Chris is reaching out again. The timing was perfect for me. It was mid-April 2022 and my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee was coming off lease in September. Given the environment, I knew I had to start planning for my next vehicle as early as possible. I had just visited a Kia dealer in my area to see what all the fuss was about this Telluride that I’d been hearing about. I never owned a Kia. I found a 2022 SXP Nightfall at a local dealer and fell in love. Rather than go with the new 2022 Jeep as I was planning, I decided to pursue the Kia Telluride! I live in Long Island, NY and at the time found that all the dealers I contacted in my area wanted a 16-17% markup. No chance in the world I would do that, my backup plan would just go back to the Jeep which was selling at MSRP.

That’s when I found this forum. I found one recommendation for a dealership in Ohio selling at MSRP. Had a great conversation with them and the sales person was very honest. Bottomline, it was going to take about 2 years to get my Telly based on their waiting list and their current rate of allocation. I’m so glad he was honest and recommended that I not place an order with them.

Then I came upon Chris’ post. Had a great conversation with Chris. He told me that they had about 85-90 people on the waiting list and they were looking at 5-7 months to fulfill those and get to me. The 2023’s were announced at that time, so I really wanted a 2023 and not a 2022. Given the 5-7 months expected time frame, I felt that the timing would work for the 2023. Chris recommended that I place an order for the 2022 rather than go on a waiting list for the 2023 which would ensure my place in line. We finalized the deal on 4/21/22. Freedom required a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. Not ideal, but to help them weed out people that place orders with multiple dealers and guard their precious allocations, I felt that was fair. I’m serious – so what did it matter?

I’m so happy I’m working with Chris and Freedom. I’ve purchased and leased over two dozen vehicles in my day and have to say this is the best dealer experience I've had so far! I especially feel this way based on so many complaints I see on this forum and on Facebook about dealers not responding or keeping people in the dark about their orders. Freedom is the complete opposite. Chris keeps in regular touch with me and provides all the status he has access to. Anytime I reach out to Chris, he responds usually within a couple of hours and a couple of times, even on his day off.

Freedom’s time frame was right on track. I got a call from Chris I believe in late August telling me my 2022 SXP Nightfall was scheduled to arrive on 10/5/22 (would have been 5 ½ months from ordering). Believe it or not, my heart sunk. No!!! I didn’t really want a 2022, I wanted the 2023. My fear came to fruition that Kia’s delayed release of the 2023 was going to ruin my plans!!! Chris and Freedom were awesome! He stood by his words and said, no problem. We can easily sell this to another customer and keep you in line for the 2023’s. That’s exactly what happened!
I placed my 2023 order on 9/29, two days after they finally announced them. My Telly has taken longer because I've ordered the SX-Prestige X-Line which Kia is not making as many of vs the other trims. Furthermore, based on failcat, my color of Everlasting Silver combined with Terracotta interior seem to number less than 20 being made since the 2023's have come out (that's as of about 2 weeks ago - but that's recently changed for the better). I've been stubborn and want what I want - willing to wait.

The first week in January, Chris reached out to me to confirm that my order/allocation was picked up by Kia and I have an ETA of 2/15 (now it's 2/22). He also provided a scheduled rundown of Kia's current plan to build the Telly. Starting with production on 1/25, paint on 1/27, completion on 2/3 and shipping on 2/7. Clearly this is all subject to change by Kia and Freedom Kia has no control. Also - something may happen during the inspection process that delays the Telly. But the transparency and proactive communication by Chris and Freedom has been nothing short of Outstanding.

I look forward to meeting Chris and the Freedom Kia crew next month (hopefully). They are going to pick me up from the airport as part of the process! I'm going to make a nice little weekend! Pick up the Telly on Saturday, take a nice drive to get acquainted with it - stop at Baltimore Inner Harbor for the night to break up the drive home. Return on Sunday. A hopefully nice Telly adventure!!!

So while my journey isn't complete with Freedom Kia yet, it's been an outstanding experience and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Telly at MSRP!

I found Chris on this site last year and bought a 2022 EX-P Nightfall. I received it in September. My neighbor liked it so much she ordered a 2023 SX from him and received it right before Christmas. The whole experience for both of us was top notch. He is a great guy.

Agree with clow and ClemsonTelluride- Freedom Kia has been an awesome dealer to work with and by far this has been the best car buying experience I have ever had! I ordered from E.J. in October and have a current ETA of 2/21! Can’t wait for my new ride!

We are due about the same time - might see you there as we pick up our new babies!!!! Lol

Originally ordered an SX-P X-Line from Fowler Kia in CO.

However yesterday bought from CarPros Kia Glendale in the LA area. Great experience, awesome dealer, and highly recommend working with Alan Chavez and his manager George. Still some markup over MSRP, but only $800, and so its a wash vs. flying to CO and cost of gas/hotels driving back to SoCal.

I think its a sign the winds are changing, as this type of deal was impossible to get in California even a month ago.

Placed the order with Tom Rice at Huffines McKinney on Jan 18, 2023 for MSRP. The VIN showed up in Failcat today. The estimated delivery of Feb. 20 seems to be on track, at least haven’t heard otherwise.

Your dealer could just provide you the window sticker too. My vehicle was just built this morning and my dealer sent me the VIN and window sticker proactively. Still hasn't hit failcat either. In any case - I've attached your window sticker here.
Mind sharing your source how to replicate the window sticker based on VINs?

Question for others/Lev Kia customers: Is it common for the dealers to literally get a different car and say "yours is here!"? It doesn't sound like the changes were communicated... how does that happen?
Oye... this is not giving me good vibes about my order with them. Back in June '22 I ordered a 23 Gravity Gray/Black SX Prestige X-Line, and kind of hoping that's what I get.

When did you originally place your order? Please keep us posted with how things go; I've been kind of dubious about their communication but it was the best deal I could get so I've stayed with them,
If your dealer said to you that they would place an MY23 order for you when you spoke to them in June last year, then your dealer was 100% BS. MY23 was not open for ordering until late September. There is no way your dealer could order an 23 for you in June.

I had a great experience with Jones Kia in Fallston, MD. Picked up a new 2023 SX X-Line today and drove in from out of state. We had agreed to MSRP + taxes and a doc fee a couple months ago when I put a deposit on the exact combo I wanted. They were prepared and followed through with no games today. Car was clean/ready to go when I got there.

Finance manager ran me through wrap protection that I declined, and she was not pushy at all. I also used Tower Federal Credit Union and got 2.99% on a 60 month term, which was definitely a hassle since they seem to be overwhelmed with requests. Hope this is helpful to some of you.

They said it would convert to a 2023 when the order was allocated. The communication with the dealer has been atrocious; when I asked last week for them to confirm my build for me (2023 SX/X-Line/Prestige), after numerous nudges they just wrote back "Your 2022 order is converted to a 2023 SX.", which sounds exactly like what happened to someone else who bought from that dealer.

That's not my order, sooo... no thanks.

That's ridiculous. Terrible dealer. They should have an order sheet that specifies exactly what was ordered. If your salesperson isn't getting you that information, you should speak to the Sales Manager. You should ask for a full run down of where you are in their waiting list (people ahead of you) for the trim that you ordered. If they can't even give you your order sheet - I'd be really concerned about when/if you are getting a Telly.

What model and color scheme did you get? We ordered a gravity gray SXP with Mahogany interior from Central Kia of Plano 1st week of January. Don't have a delivery date yet
