What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

So my Telluride came in yesterday and I'm picking it up tomorrow. Ordered a white SXP with Dune interior. It came in with black interior. I'm still pissed but I'm getting over it. Black Napa is nice too. I just prefer the brown seating with black headliner. Gave me 3 years of oil changes and lifetime state inspections to make amends. Big whoop! The hype around this car puts buyers at a disadvantage. My dealer's attitude is "If you don't take it, I'll sell it in a day for $5k over MSRP." So I have no leverage. Excited that the wait is finally over. Pics tomorrow.

It came in different because its NOT the vehicle you ordered. They are selling you another vehicle that came in. This happens all the time. The dealership didn't "make a mistake "....

Called a local dealership yesterday that had a Dark Moss S AWD that just landed off the truck.

Vehicle Price: MSRP (with added Auto-Dimming Homelink mirror) $37,972
Less Incentives: $1,100
Total: $36,872

Lease Details

36mo/15k
MF: .00177
Res: 63%
Monthly: $536

I had given up hope and cancelled my order recently because I needed a car with my current lease ending soon. It's not exactly what I wanted since it has captains chairs instead of bench, but I love it.

Sucks! at least wait is over.. look forward to seeing pic!

Here it is. After almost five months of waiting. I replaced the logos in the front and rear with ones from this site. The ones for the wheels and steering wheel are kinda cheesy; not sure i want to do the wheels. So far we're real happy. The kids love the heated-A/C rear seats. I need a receiver hitch for a bike rack and a trunk mat. Eventually I want tuxmats too.

Ok sorry for the long post

so we got our Telluride yesterday! we'd been looking really for only about a week, we knew we wanted An EX with Prem package with light interior in any color but Dark Moss. we visited a few dealers, the one here in town, bait and switched us, the car we wanted and confirmed was there the day before visiting was magically sold early that morning. the car they wanted us to buy had the tow package and wouldnt be here till april and was $2000 more, but we talked #s with them, the car MSRP was around 42300, they wanted $44000 were gonna offer $3800 for our 2012 ex turbo optima, but wouldnt budge but offered to order, we walked out and opted to make the the 1 and half hour trip up to Cincy who had the trim /color we actually like the most and the MSRP was $40,275, so with the $1000 rebate we would be looking at $39275, which would be perfect

So after calling and setting up an apt, they cancelled with us Thursday for some odd reason saying they need to "work on the car", but rescheduled with us for Friday at 5pm, i get off work at 3 so with traffic wed be there right around 5, BUT..... they close at 6 so that was gonna be interesting, we show up ask for the lady that scheduled our visit, and the very young sales guy came back and said he was gonna work with us , cool so we test drove the car, i asked about the "work being done" and he was clueless and spouted off some random " well when the cars come off the truck we have to inspect them etc". i said well this car has been on the log for awhile according to your website, he was like uhhh well i can check on it for you" Not a big deal

So now we started the negotiating process, of course here comes the Dealer add ons, pinstriping, and some kinda Valugard, interior /exterior and undercoating snake oil. so the car we wanted now jumped up from $40275.00 to $42675.00 and hers the kicker. The say my car is only worth $750.00 for trade

needless to say, that was a slap in the face, the young sales guy wasnt much of a negotiator, and wasnt knowledgeable about the financing rates at the time, or really knowledgeable about much in general, nice but he didnt really have a sales attitude

So some other sales guy comes over, i mention my displeasure with the trade in ( now i know its had some dings but the inside was cherry and the car still runs great) i know its worth more than $750 and i also mention in the $2490 addendum to the MSRP. he was like well we cant come down off that, its value added and its already been done to the car, im like well im not paying $2500 for some scotchguard and pinstriping

out the door price with tax , fees etc wanted us to pay $44750. we said no thanks and decided to walk

what we wanted Out the door was no more that 41500 (cuz we were putting $2500 down) and he was like " nope we they cant do it, he kept talking about the "valugard package and how that was a "fair add on" i declined to respond after i had already told him how i felt about overcharging us for some pinstriping and fabric/undercarriage protector. So we said no thanks and headed for the door,

They took their sweet time giving us our car keys back and when the did they stopped us and said ok we can do 42750 we said no thank you, they stopped us again at the door and said ok we will do it for $ 41800 again we were like no, our number is $41500. they said ok we cant help you and let us walk out, all the while my wife and i were like if they were wiling to go to $41800 why not just go to 41500 like we were asking. we were loading up our 4 year old in his car seat, the young sales rep came running out and said ok, we'll do it for your price of $41500.

Im glad they came down to what we asked, but it was just an odd experience overall, i dont know if it was because the time of the sale, coronavirus stuff going on, the sales team there just seem like they were angry at us for talking them down on the price. i dont know it was just weird

So basically we got our new car with tax, tag title and doc fees minus the $1000 rebate for $4150

I think we did ok, there were some things we left on the table, in that price they got us for $299 etching fee, my wife was doing the financing while i attended to my son, she did the right thing and declined all the extra warranty non-sense, but didnt think to question the bogs etching fee... its still not as great of a deal as we wanted, i wanted to pay about $1000 less, but my wife said this was the color/trim we wanted without the accessories we didnt want i.e. tow package, cross bars etc.

So as far as the car we love it, but the experience with the dealer left alot to be desired. but at the end of the day we got what we wanted.

Thanks all for your help this forum has been a God send

Sounds like you survived a snake pit! Congrats!

In Mirabel, Québec, Canada, I paid $2,230 under the MSRP of $49,995 CAD for a Telluride SX (Ebony Black). I had to do a lot of bargaining to get this $47,765 CAD price ($35,759 USD at the current currency rate). This price does not include the $1,895 CAD Delivery & Destination charge and taxes.

Initially they told me it would take a maximum of 3 months to get the Telluride, but now they are telling me I might get it at the end of March 2020 (so in about a month).

After talking to them and doing a lot of my own research, here is how I think the ordering process works in Canada for the Telluride (which is different than in the USA):

1- Contrary to the US, dealers are not assigned a predetermine numbers of units depending of their pass sale performance.

2- There are almost no Tellurides on the dealers lot. Usually you can test drive a demo Telluride which is driven daily by the sale manager.

3- When you are ready to buy, you will negociate the price at that time and you leave a reimbursable $500 deposit and they will order exactly what you want. You can cancel your order at any time.

4- If a new discount promotion from Kia Canada is available between when you leave the deposit and pick-up your Telluride, they will be able to apply this promotion.

5- It is with the client credit check and the $500 deposit that the dealer is allowed to order a specific Telluride for a specific client.

6- Kia Canada will then look at what's available in Canada and will either find an existing Telluride or order the exact model requested. The dealer told me it would take a maximum of 3 months.

7- When a Telluride is found, the VIN will be given to the client. If no Telluride is found a custom order will be done and the VIN will be given to the client once the VIN is known.

8- The dealer will contact the client when he receives his Telluride.

I think doing this if more fair for the customer that doing it like they do in the US. In the US there are a lot of bad dealers that receive a lot of Prestige Tellurides for which they charge over $5000 above MSRP.

I have found the following post in which you see a Canadian VIN, but that VIN does not show any dealer like in the US. There is also another sticker in that post that also has no dealer (it only shows ON for Ontario I guess, but the Telluride was shipped to a dealer in Québec in that post).

If there are other Canadian Telluride buyers, please share your buying experience and how much you paid.

So I ordered on February 26, 2020 in Québec, Canada and today I got my VIN from the dealer. By looking at the VIN lookup database, this VIN was created on March 9, 2020. So it only took 12 days from my order and $500 reimbursable deposit until my VIN got produced. My Black Telluride SX is now in transport according to my dealer.

Unfortunately all car dealers in Québec, Canada will be closed for 3 weeks because of the COVID-19 virus. My dealer will call me after April 13, 2020 and let me know when my Telluride will be ready for pickup. He also told me that if there is an interest rate promotion by then (currently 2.49% for 60 months) or any other promotion, he will apply this promotion (current promotion is 120 days no payment).

Hello, everyone!
I’m currently in the early stages of buying a Telluride for my wife. I’m not a person who likes to lease, so I will be purchasing. We currently have a 2016 Sportage EX that we bought from Byers in 2015 and got the Christmas Kia 0% financing for 72 months (we actually paid it off in 48).
Currently she wants any exterior color but white, but wants butterscotch or Dune for the interior.
Reached out to Cronin Kia, in Harrison, OH to see if they would match a Costco discount. They said they sell at MSRP. Currently $46,030 I’ve read that on others posts here. So a few questions, and appreciate others input.

1.) Is there any Kia owner loyalty deals (finance, not a lease person)?
2.) Possibility to get it for $46k OTD?
3.) Anyone deal with Cronin? I take my sportage there for TSB and recall work. I read someone’s dealings with Superior and couldn’t agree more.

I’m glad I found this forum and appreciate any or all help!

Haven't dealt with Cronin personally, but have heard good things. Best you are going to find in Ciny is MSRP (Cronin and Kings) I got mine from Muncie for costco plus kia rebates. It's about a 2 hour drive but worth the savings to me. Good luck..what part of Cincy you from? Fairfield Township here.

Thanks! I put in the Costco discount but it told me that there was no participating dealers for my zip. However it turned out to be Sweeney in Florence and someone today text me about the SXP, but I just want the SX. They said they would “look at the list”. I’m in Monfort Heights, West of the City. I might wait till the end of the year, would like to see 0% financing, maybe wait for ‘21. Dunno yet

Sweeney in Florence seems to be good, but they do have some kind of package they add that's non negotiable for I believe it was $300 or there abouts (at least they did a couple years ago when shopping for my Stinger)... but I heard they were also doing Tellurides at MSRP... I didn't go through the Costco site, went directly through Kia of Muncie and they give you their costco price. Each dealer makes their own costco price and some of them are MSRP is their costco price.

Spent a lot of my early years around Montfort Heights.. I'm sure it's changed a bit in the last 30 years or so...lol..Good luck with your decision, let me know if I can help in any way.

This is why many people HATE buying a new car. The games that many (but not all) dealers play with you. The sad part you basically got the price you wanted but their mistreatment of you thoughout the process eliminated any goodwill you would feel for that dealer....

Instead of you posting "I talked to the salesman, made a reasonable offer, and left happy! Be sure to go to XX Kia and ask for John, he is AWESOME", you get royally jerked around and massive gamesmanship.
