• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has anyone heard anything about the 2021 T’rides? I assume they are just about done building 2020s by now.

At this point, I think this question has been ask numerous times, I believe the conscience is: "Mums the word from KIA and as soon as anyone of the reputable forum dealership knows ANYTHING solid, they will post it". As or right now, I heard the 2021's will have a flux capacitor and only cost $8,995 ;)

The time travel option sounds interesting...

Maybe an engine producing 400+ HP and get really crappy gas mileage.

What we know...

- KFOS opened for allocations this week...but so far no reputable dealer sources have indicated a Telluride allocation could be filled.
- KIA probably has a month or two of backlog on 2020 orders based on the current low rate of production in the new COVID-19 world

Since KIA isn't telling any of its dealers anything and nothing in the news about the 2021 release date - I think it is safe to assume at this point the expected early release of the 2021 Telluride for order has been pushed back another month. At this point - much will probably depend on how quickly the factory can get back up to normal speed before they start production on the 2021. Also - keep in mind - an all new Optima (to be called the K5) and an all new Sorento both to launch this summer/fall are also being produced at the West Point Georgia factory. So unfortunately - for me and others out there that were in line to get a Telluride allocation this month - it looks like we wait another month and hope KIA announces something soon. My wife's 2011 Honda Odyssey isn't getting any younger!!

Reality and logic would seem to suggest you are correct.......unfortunately!

2021 Telluride is a myth at this point lol. I see the 2020s catching up the rest of this year and 2021 being delivered next year..

Since KFOS is no longer accepting 2020 orders - that would mean they have sold six months of production in advance that they will build the rest of the year - while at the same time denying any future buyers from having their orders accepted. I'm not seeing it. August or maybe September at the latest. At some point this summer they will start accepting 2021 orders in KFOS.

As already stated, what makes sense is that we won't be seeing the 2021MY until after the summer shut-down when the re-tooling is done for the next MY, including next gen models like the K5 and Sorento.

Anyone have any idea when the re-tooling is scheduled?

Normally, it's towards the end of summer, but things may change due to (1) the pandemic and (2) when Kia wanted to launch the new Sorento and K5.

It was originally scheduled (Per KIA's own press release) to take place in April - but got postponed due to the pandemic. So not sure how that fits in with the normal schedule. I was curious to know if anyone had heard something specific.

I think that the entire industry is going to be set back 6-9mos and any plans for new platforms will be hard to get out the door. Not only is the local production impacted here in the US, but the logistics chain around the world has been impacted also. The crazy part is that dealers are still charging a market price above MSRP even with Covid 19.

Law of supply and demand. Dealers are still charging above MSRP because people are willing to pay above MSRP. We may not like it - but the fault lies with the buyers...not the dealerships.

@StephenCantrelle
Kia contacted dealership asked would I would be ok with 2021 model. No physical change and difference in price. No ETA.
What is going on here?

More interested in timing than changes at this point. I will pay more for a 2021 at this point...just to get one.

I ordered a SXP w/ towing, Black Copper/Dune Brown and most other options in late December 2019. At the time of the order, I was told to expect delivery in May 2020. The ETA was later pushed-back to mid June then another time to mid July. Today, I was contacted by my dealer who said they were contacted by Kia corporate with the question: would I be okay with a 2021 model with the same options instead? The dealer also said they would eat the extra cost of the 2021 and give it to me for the same price as the 2020? Naturally, I accepted the deal. The only negative was the ETA would be pushed back again to early August. The dealer also told me that there would NOT be any significant changes to the 2021 model. Anyone else heard of 2020 orders being switched to 2021?

This is significant. Looks like they may be trying to close out 2020 as soon as possible. Which is a good thing. Early August seems reasonable all things considered. The only negative is that pulling existing 2020 orders and flipping them to 2021 means those of us without an ETA will come in behind these changes. Not a big deal - but makes me think that August/September still looks like a realistic time frame for my order. @StephenCantrelle have you heard of 2020 orders being switched to 2021?
