Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

Keffer Kia Mooresville NC, New here but would like to explain what happened with our experience at Keffer Kia in Mooresville NC. My wife and I went to look at a white Telluride S, sweet ride, priced $4500 above MSRP to start with, so we knew that wasn't gonna happen. But we talked anyway to see what they could do. We left and our salesman Jim called and said I think we can get you close to where you need to be would you like to come back in Saturday and talk with our Sales Manager, So I agreed and we returned Saturday. Upon arrival I was greeted by Jim and he informed me that he could not work with us today but another salesman and the sales manager would be here to assist me etc. The man came up and introduced himself as the Sales Manager and told me he was going to go to finance and see where we stand. He came back and said best he can do is $785 a month for 84 months!!!! So I instantly told him that is not going to happen and it does not even come close to the price of the vehicle at above MSRP and with my negative equity on my current vehicle. He actually told me " It's nothing but a payment, you got it" and even mentioned my place of employment and continued to tell me I could afford it no problem. So after a few exchanges of words we left, extremely ticked off, that he wasted our time and acted so disrespectfully towards us. We decided we were going to wait and I decided to leave a bad review online. well after I left the review I received a call from Casey at Keffer Kia and he is actually the Sales Manager. So I proceeded to explain what had happened and he couldn't believe it, which neither could we. So he told us he would make it right and that the employees would be reprimanded for their actions. So were talking with him and at first it seemed like he genuinely wanted to do anything he could to make this better as we have done business with them for years. That's where we are at currently, we are going to talk with the Sales Manager and see what he offers but with the over pricing and the lying from the other employee's we may end up waiting for a couple of months and doing business elsewhere as it has left a bad taste in my mouth to be honest. Just wanted to atleast let people be aware of what we encountered.

$785 for 84 months! That's $65940!!! More than $20K over sticker. Dealers like this are sleaze balls but the unfortunate thing is that there are some poor souls out there that fall for their slimy tactics. You're smart to stay away, they are playing games!!!

It's impossible to tell what the price is from the $785 for 84 months. First he said he had negative equity from previous car. Also APR will also make a big difference between 1.9% or 10.9%..so I'm doubting it was that high, but also do believe they were definitely over MSRP if that's where they started. This is why you never talk payments, always talk price, after price then you can talk APR and length of payments to reach a payment suitable to you.

I apologize, I guess I did leave some details out. it was $58,xxx, it was just way over the negative equity and price of vehicle even over the MSRP. Either way leave that out of equation and salesman was still posing as sales manager and made some very disrespectful comments that should not have been brought up.

there is a white s coming in at msrp in stuart, florida @ wallace kia, ask for marc the general manager. ask about incentives, might save you another 1-2k. call and lock it up with a credit card deposit. I picked up mine 11 days ago. Regards, Max

thanks for the heads up, glad some dealers are actually not overpricing them. Its hard to pay over msrp for me anyway.

Hey my friend, I only do this for friends, and YOU are my friend. I can lower your monthly to $600 for 120 months. Sweet isn’t it? I just lowered it by $285! Don’t say I don’t hook you up!

Damn! I really got screwed. I bet I could have got a rocking monthly payment if I opted for a 240 month payment plan at 7.99% interest. 😡

I never understand why people with negative equity in one ride want to get into another new ride. If you're already still paying off a car it can't be that old and needs to be replaced.

No offense to the poster above.

Ourisman Kia in Chantilly, VA. Met a great sales rep who knew a ton about the car would definitely buy from but his dealership had put a $700 appearance package (tint, pinstripe) and $1500 protection plan (paint, seats) on every Telluride on top of something like a $2000 market adjustment on the S and $4000 on an SX.

you are right, it was more so just a want def not a need. But had it not been priced 5000 over MSRP it would have been a bit closer to what I would have a greed to pay. And no offense taken, you are right, our vehicle isn't old at all, we have just finally gotten to only one child in a car seat and thought it would be nice to leave the mini van world lol.

Right? I'm looking at a Telluride for a 10 year commitment, but maybe that's just me.

Pretty consistent experience with others. Kia dealers are so shady in NJ/NY!!

Route 23 Kia - Wasted 3 hours of my life, waiting for financing numbers, would not break down the price, just kept quoting a total price. Had promised they were not marking up like other dealers. After I walked out, they finally emailed me a break down of pricing which included a $3000 dealer fee.

Jack Daniels Kia - Went straight from Route 23 to Jack Daniels after speaking with them on the phone (while waiting in the lobby at Route 23 Kia). They promised on the phone they had the SX in gravity grey and that they were not charging above MSRP. Arrive to be told that they are $5000 above MSRP and they didn't have the color I was looking for anyway. Walked right out.

Northstar Kia - After the above experience, I was not going to drive anywhere without getting all of the pricing in writing. They kept texting me a link to the website with standard pricing but would not put anything in email. After escalating to a manager, finally got a promise he would email me directly. 5 minutes later, was confirmed for a VIP appointment the next day. I called in the morning and told them I wasn't going anywhere until I had an email outlining everything that was discussed by phone. Was finally told they did not actually have the car I wanted in stock.

And many others giving me the run around but the above 3 have been the worst. Planning to order from Muncie in Indiana as many others have referenced and suggested. Cheaper to have it shipped with their below MSRP pricing and far more straight forward!

I'm lucky, Kia of Muncie is only about a 3 hour drive for me so I'll be driving up there to get mine.

I ordered from Sansone Kia in April. The communication has been subpar at best, but they finally got me an eta on paper of 9/16. They took my order at MSRP and they told me they have a few EX and S models coming in towards the end of August.

Thanks for the tip. I did try Sansone but they wouldn't discuss pricing or take an order over the phone. I was too jaded from the other dealers to drive all the way down to Sansone. Just placed my order with Muncie Kia in Indiana. Below MSRP plus the incentives so worth paying the shipping. They were honest and so straight forward. Did everything by email/phone. I wish I had found them 2 months ago instead of getting the run around from all these NJ dealers.

I had a good experience with Bridgewater Kia. I got lucky and a cancellation came up right as was I was looking to buy. A case of being in the right place at the right time. No markup from MSRP then, no idea if they are doing it now.

That's great, glad you found a good dealer to order from. How much off MSRP did you get?
