I shopped around (5 Kia dealerships & 2 Hyundai). This is what I learned...
1. Every dealer has there own scam
2. Some are obvious (dealer suggested price &ridiculous fees)
3. Some are hard to spot and you may not even get far enough in the car buying process to encounter them (finance person, ridiculous warranties). These dealers pray on the weak and like to brag about how honest and straight forward they are yet they want to sell you paint protection.
Best advice I could give to anyone buying a car is to separate every part of the deal. The price, the trade, the loan, and monthly payment. Get your own financing before you walk in. This way you already know that financing $25000 will be a $350 monthly payment @ 72 months (as a example). The price of the vehicle dictates the monthly payment don’t let the do the old “where do you want to be a month payment wise” trick. You will be at your $400 month payment but you will have a 84 month loan or be in a lease to buy plan.
