Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

Yes I asked them directly. All they say is the car is ordered and they have no updates, that I will get $1,000 off MSRP when it arrives. I never said I was not naive. I have never ordered a car before. I guess I am naive for not knowing that a car dealership could scam people like that. I just wanted to get on here and try and warn other people who may also be inexperienced in the process of ordering a new car and thats why they're on this forum, seeking the help of others. Thanks for being an ass about it though!
Thanks for the heads up anyway. It will be helpful for others in the future. We are all on here to learn from others who have been down this road. You shouldn't be shamed by others "who know more." Ordering process was new for me too in 2019. I watched this forum for about a year before ordering. I live in NC but ordered from Kia of Muncie in Indiana. If you've spent any time on here you surely have heard of Lucas there. My deal was all documented the day I ordered the car; got copy of "out the door" estimate as suggested. Deposit charge ticket was photographed and sent to me. Costco pricing offered by Kia of Muncie. They were honest and honored every promise they made. Went above and beyond! I highly recommend them even if there is a long wait list. You'll at least have peace of mind the deal is legit.

Thanks for being nice, like you said, I just wanted to help others who don’t know so they didn’t waste their time like I did. We learn from our mistakes and maybe I should have caught the red flags but I have never ordered a car before. I knew car dealerships would try and rip you off with prices but didn’t think they could just not order you a car when they say they would like that. I will look into Costco pricing with Muncie. Thank you for being kind and helpful!

Keep reading the different topics on here. There is tons to learn, the more educated we all are the better experience we all will have. Your warning will help someone in the same situation a few weeks or months from now. Don't be afraid to post it ask questions. Search the thread first though because most things about placing orders and what to expect next have been asked and explained. I was almost obsessed with reading this forum before I finally ordered. But most of us on here who have their Tellurides want to help future buyers. There are some trolls but just ignore the response that aren't helpful.

Just wanted to share a bad dealer experience.. I ordered my Telluride from Superior Kia in Cincinnati, OH 3 months ago, and have pretty much been ghosted. I ordered from this dealer after seeing on this forum that they were offering $1,000 off MSRP for pre-ordering. They didn't take a deposit for my car, gave me no proof of the order and no updates. After speaking with several other dealers I learned that this is basically a scam. Kia dealers are not offering incentives other than $500 off for taking Kia financing, they should require a deposit, and production time locally is more along the lines of 60 days, and Tellurides have been arriving 7-14 days early. I should have been provided with paperwork and updates. Apparently they just took my information so they could order the car and will sell it on the lot. I'm not sure if they need customer information to order more Tellurides for their lot or why they would do this but just wanted to warn others to be wary of taking your business to Superior Kia in Cincinnati as they are not trustworthy and their customer service sucks.
I second everything you said, because I had the same experience. Gerald is the one who does the ordering, and you can forget about getting ahold of him, calling you back, or emailing back. I too “ordered” and after a couple months of horrible communication, I started watching failcat for a different option. I ended up finding exactly what we wanted coming to Ken Ganley Kia in Medina, and put a deposit on that one. I still have not seen the supposed one that was “ordered” for me at Superior. I’ll be waiting for the call, if I ever get one, saying that mine has come in. That will be an interesting conversation. Yes, they claim 1k off MSRP, but it didn’t pan out for me.

Wow that dealership needs a management change

Let's allow our members and readers to SKIP the bad dealers and give their business to those dealers who've treated you RIGHT.

Please take a moment to reply with your bad experience so we can steer other buyers away from that dealership...

GOOD experiences go HERE.
Murray Kia in PA sells at MSRP and was a great buying experience

Just a short one. Ordered from Sansone KIA in NJ and they were the only dealer we found that would order at MSRP locally. Besides the price, everything else about the experience sucked. The salesguy did not know anything about the Telluride and kept telling us false information which we corrected him on, and he only believed us when we showed the features and color options on KIA's OWN WEBSITE on his work computer.... Since I've been reading the forums I know the delivery time is 3 months and he tells us 2 months MAX. We know like everything else, he's off but we wait.
4 months later we get the car. Price was at MSRP but they added LoJack and window etching, which they claimed was mandatory and done at the Plant by Kia and not an option to remove. So we got hosed of $1000 off that, but they took $1000 off the extra 5 years warranty package we got, so I guess it's a wash.
Finance guy was a pain in the butt and kept messing up our paperwork so we had to redo it twice.
The only light at the end was we got the car we wanted and avoided the $8000 markup that all North Jersey dealers are taking onto Tellurides.

If you go and use Sansone Kia, ask for anyone except Anthony A.

Or just DON'T go there or use Sansone...Fair warning by MarkP! Curious what they charged you for 5 year Extended Warranty? For all you other newbies out there, Kia plant in Georgia does NOT etch OR put Lojack on cars before leaving the plant. That's a dealer add-on to rip you off. Refuse the car if they insist.

I've seen that movie before too. I called Gerald on Monday after reading about Superior KIA on this forum about the $1K below MSRP. He asked for my name, phone, address and email and said he would send a quote over. I haven't heard from him since. On that same day, I called Lucas at Muncie and spoke to him about the ordering process with Muncie. I sent over a screenshot of the Telly build I'm looking for and Lucas got back to me with a quote on the same day. Lucas even was kind enough to answer all my questions and even gave me info that I forgot to ask about. I would def order with Muncie, but might need a car sooner than 8 months out. That's the only drawback I can see with Muncie and it's not even their fault.

Glad your reached out to Lucas, he is first class, as is the whole Muncie dealership. Craig made financing process actually enjoyable! I understand if you can't wait, but if you do decide to go with Muncie, you won't be disappointed.

I am trying to buy a telluride..however I want a certain color combo..copper black...w brown leather interior.
Kia Smithtown in NY was glad to order it for me told me it's $5k mandatory over msrp. is this standard?

Normal - for some dealers. Search the forum and pay no markup or wait longer for Muncie and pay under MSRP

No there is no *mandatory markup" from Kia. That's just your dealer telling you they are marking up their price. I got an SX-P with towing pkg in Black Copper with Dune Nappa leather from Kia of Muncie for under MSRP. Just had to wait a while for it. Another person on here yesterday said their dealer told them a price under MRSP then added a "mandatory" Lojack and window etching for $1000. That dealer said those were mandatory add-ons from the Kia factory, which of course, is BS!. Move on to another dealer...now.

Run, run away! If you put any money down, ask for it back and go somewhere else

Actually, markup over msrp is quite normal. 5k isn’t that bad actually. Over here in SoCal, you’ll find dealers charging 10-12k over. Unless the dealer did something shady then yes, run away.

Greenway Kia of Rivergate in Nashville, TN just tried to get me to buy one with a 10K market adjusted price. Told him for 58k I'll go buy a BMW
They are still marked up here. Went recently and they have an SX on the lot listed at 15k over MSRP. They were willing to "cut me a deal" and sell it at only 10k over MSRP.

I just called Superior yesterday (before I read all the bad reviews on here) and was told by the internet inquiries person that they give $1,000 off msrp for ordered Tellurides. Called the dealership later that day to verify those facts and place our order, but once I was passed to a sales person he said that was a “promotion” and they weren’t doing it anymore. Then he said maybe they could do it just for me...I could tell something wasn’t right there and since it would be an out of state purchase I need to really trust who we’re buying from. The salesperson I talked to was named Anthony, but I could here a man in the background telling him what to say. Maybe that was the manager? Who knows.

UPDATE, UPDATE!!!! So our order DID show up on Failcat, and it IS due to arrive the middle of April. (Ordered mid December). So overall, not bad! The only way I knew this though, is that I sent the dealer an email stating my disappointment with the dealers communication, and then they told me they just received notice it was coming. Soooo, if anyone needs a White, FWD, S, with black interior, mine will be available, as we had to turn in our lease last week, and we bought a telluride from a different dealer. Overall, still not happy with the communication, but they did in fact order mine. Just wanted to clarify that to everyone, just to be fair to the dealer.

Young Kia, Layton Utah.
I called and inquired about the ordering process. Gal I spoke with said 2 months for an SX-P, and that they were MSRP if I financed with them. After our conversation she text me and apologized and told me that they were actually 6-9 months out, and that she thought I was originally talking about the Sorentos. 😑
A different sales person called me back 30 min after I inquired, telling me that there was great news and a model very close to the one I wanted was on the lot and that the original buyer had backed out. It was available! I asked what the sticker was and he said around $55k. While I talked to him I looked on failcat and saw that the MSRP was actually about $48k. I then asked him what the MSRP was and he told me it was indeed $48k, but that there was a market correction. When I asked about them selling at MSRP he said that they did for orders, but that this unit would save me a 13 month wait. I said “Huh? The other person text me and said 6-9 months”. He said “the other person has worked here for two days, it is definitely a 13 month wait“. I thanked him for his time and left feeling completely jerked around by incompetence and misinformation.
There‘s better dealers out there.

Wow
