Hey
@Ubertam , instead of coming on the forum and posting once, how about answering our questions?
I'm picking mine up from Puyallup at the end of the month. I've been working with Tim also. Are you saying the finance guy forced you to use their financing or did you have a choice to use another?
Didn't have notifications on, so I didn't see people's posts.
I was not forced to use their lender.
I could have sold my car private party and made more money.
The reason I bring up the sales process now is that I was under the impression I bought a warranty that covered tires, which is the comparative product I brought to the finance guy and thought I was buying; that turned out to be a lie.
Lending: Kia was offering a financing deal. Tim, being a bro, told me that my credit and down payment would qualify me for whatever financing I want. He was trying to warn me that the finance guy might try to pull one over, but I was too dumb to realize what he meant. I normally would have gone to my credit union for car financing, but they had a low APR. I was expecting 0% or 0.9% or 1.9% or something like that. But when I was in the room with the finance guy, he told me they were going to put me through "special financing." I didn't hear it at the time - the buzz of excitement of getting our new car we'd just waited 6 months for was loud in my ears. But looking back - even that night - I realized what it meant. I sold cars for a month twenty years ago, and I remembered that "special financing" is for people with bad credit. My rate was higher - 3.6% or something like that. It wasn't a big deal - I was going to pay it off early or refinance anyway.
Could I have made a stink about financing? Yes. Should I have? Probably. Did I have every right to tell the finance guy to go to hell? Sure. I didn't. Should I have had to? No. The finance guy and sales managers were being dicks.
Trade-in: Tim, also being a bro, explained that they weren't going to give me a good deal on my trade because they sold me MSRP. They knew what they had. They had a Telluride SX Prestige that they could turn around and sell for 5k over MSRP tomorrow if I walked away. They had me by the balls and they knew it. I didn't want to drive my old car home. I didn't want to deal with selling it. Going to the DMV and deal with a title transfer. I don't have time for that. And apparently I can afford to lose a few grand on a deal. But I'm not happy about it. It wasn't the spirit of the agreement to sell me the car for MSRP.
Warranty: I had the printouts for the warranty that Muncie was offering and brought those. They included a specific tire package. $5,000 lifetime coverage limit and includes road hazards and wheel damage. It was like $700. I asked the finance guy for equivalent and he sold me the standard shitty warranty they offer. Turn down their crap warranty from Zunich and buy the warranty from Muncie instead.
Doubt anything and everything the finance guy says. Don't reward them for concealing information and toying around. I don't know if you'll have the ability to walk away from the deal - I didn't because I'd ordered it 6 months prior - but without, they'll have you by the balls. Don't turn into a smiling, nodding idiot like I did.
