• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... GAS MILEAGE

SX FWD- mostly smart mode, 60/40 city to hwy.

23.3 mpg overall per dash that I reset when I put my first tank full in.

My fill up last night brought me to 92.1 gal to drive 2115 miles (since my first fill up) or calculated 22.96 mpg all around.

I run 89 octane/no additives My 2013 fwd Traverse never cracked 16 same driving habits/fuel.

At 2k mi/ per month $2.89 /gal I am saving a little over $110/month in go juice. And get more compliments and questions when I do stop for gas.

Perhaps, but 30mpg still seems unrealistic.
I have a FWD EX and average about 26.5 around town and to work and just got back from a 1500 mile trip to the beach and averaged 29.5 cruising about 80 the whole way. I was insanely impressed. The only way to truly verify would be to use fuely but I’m too lazy to remember to document at every fill up.

I actually cracked 30 MPG this past weekend, 66mph, flat terrain, highway, no traffic, with AC blasting. ErMayZing!

Hey Buckeye. I use Fuelly and have not touched the Accumulated mileage screen since driving away from the dealership. I’m exactly 1 MPG different comparing the Accumulated stats (29.4) vs Fuelly (28.4). Pretty impressive numbers for 4.5K miles on the Telle.

5000 mi a very heavy foot and still I'm averaging 25.5 miles per gallon. And those are mostly commute miles with very little straight highway

Rondakay. Those are some good MPG numbers for a lead-footed Texan..LOL . Will be headed your direction in a couple month migrating from summer to winter home in Mission TX. Assume you have the FWD model.

No I have an AWD SXP in Everlasting Silver.
Have a great trip!

AWD...wow...even more impressive. Are you hand calculating your mileage or taking the MPG info from the display? I’ve found the display to be anywhere from 1-3 MPG less then hand calculates numbers. Not a biggie...just saying. Yeah, we’ll have fun on the trip with the new buggie 👍

I am using the display. Yes y'all will love it. I have taken one trip so far to the Gulf Coast and it is a dream on a trip. The day to day is pretty fantastic.

AC blasting

Surprised there's really only one of you talking about A/C - it's a big factor. Unfortunately only EX and SX have auto - but if you're using A/C on auto, posting what you have it set to and relative outside temperature helps set the stage for how you got your mpg. Also obviously FWD vs AWD and driving mode. Some other tips (coming from an EV 'hypermiler') that might be useful to folks:
  • A/C - matters a lot for mileage as can outside air temp but once it's cool, it takes a lot less to keep it cool. I don't know if you can use the 'fan'/'vent' without 'a/c' but if you can, it will make a difference
  • Tire pressure - matters. Over-inflating (not recommended) while still under the tire psi spec reduces drag but also makes for a harder ride
  • Windows - when open usually cause for less efficiency/less mpg at higher speeds
  • Acceleration - another big one. Don't put the pedal on the floor when starting from a stop. (this is also why city vs highway driving usually varies so much)
  • Cargo weight - including passengers. Can make a difference. If you don't need it in/on the car, get rid of it
  • Traffic - by anticipating starting and stopping in traffic and slowing down so you maintain a more constant speed, you prevent a lot of acceleration
  • Drafting - not recommended (because the closer you are to tailgating, the more benefit you get) but I've gotten some noticeable impact on longer highway drives by cruising behind a semi driving at 55mph (even staying 150ft behind them) - there's an old mythbusters episide out there that tested this - I think it was something like an 11% improvement at 100ft (drafting a semi at 55mph)
  • Speed - I have no idea where the sweet spot is on the Telluride (often it's a lot lower than you think) but realize that speeding on highways will definitely cause extra drag
  • 'Pulse and Glide' - most often provides some benefit even on non-hybrid cars. Google it if you're interested (sorry, means no cruise control)

PLUS:

• Premium gas or regular?
• Bike rack with 4 bikes in the back?
Roof rack with x-mas tree?
• Sun roof opened or closed?
• All season tires or performance?
• Auto start/stop button pressed?
• Which drive mode?

etc...

This is why I take it all with a grain of salt. If I take all the input, I can get a range of expected results, or average them.

Premium fuel will not make a difference in mpg on the Telluride. Pure gas will do better than 10% ethanol gas will.

SX AWD in mixed driving over 200 miles and got 27.5 mpg in smart mode. Very happy with that.

According to the display, getting about 16 which is bothersome. SX AWD, 500 miles. Next time I fill up I'm going to do this the manual paper way and see if the display is adding up right. Anyone else seeing low MPGs?
I'm seeing about 16.9 overall after 400 miles.

Yes! Comfort and not Eco, go figure.

After 2100 miles in eco mode for SXP-AWD averaging 23.6, mostly City with one 300 mile highway trip.

Gas mileage? I’ve driven 1300 miles and it’s Shitty! I live at the gas station, never had to fill up this much with my BMWs. Again it’s real shitty

Might be something wrong with yours ( or your driving). Most of us are getting excellent gas mileage especially for a large SUV

Have an EX AWD just took a road trip 1440 miles drove about 6 over with cruise got 25.8
