• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Oil Change

You can't go wrong following what's recommended on your owners manual.

There are a few threads about oil changes here already. Here's one of them
OK, Thanks didn't know what topic to ask.

Canada manual says every 6k km....

I have always done 10k intervals on all my modern cars since 2000, never had a problem. Yes of course you can do 7k or 3k or 200, but it’s not necessary, why throw your money away?

I agree that with today's synthetic oil formulation that it is overkill, however why would you forego the owner's manual and risk having a major issue that then gets denied because you didn't follow the manufacturer's recommendations? To me, changing the oil at 7,500 miles, per the manual, is cheap insurance. I'd rather not give them a reason.

Thanks everyone 7,500K will be my first oil change. I had a 2017 Ford Fusion before my Telluride and there oil changes was 5K.

IF.....you can afford it, do the first change at 2 or 3 thousand miles with Mobil 1 full synthetic..cleans out the break in residue....then, continue to use Mobil 1 at 5K or 7500 intervals. If you can do this, no matter what vehicle you own, the protection for your engine is the best that you can do!! Just my opinion based upon 30 new cars in the past 51 years.

Good advice for the most protection, but it’s going to get negated by all the thousands of annoying auto starts. Turn that thing off!

Agree, I have been using mobile one synthetic in my 2002 Gmc envoy since new doesn't burn a drop or leak a drop. 185,000 miles change oil at 5000 intervals. 2010 tundra 140,000 miles same story, but true 😁 Walmart or Costco has the best price.

Hello All, my car is at 9200K and i already did first oil change at 5K..i need to go on a road trip around 1200 miles next week.so my question is should i do pre trip oil change or once i come back from the trip? First oil change was at dealer and thinking to do the same for second oil change..Any suggestions ?

I’m thinking you should be good until you get back. Unless you drive under the “severe conditions” category as described in the manual... then I’d change the oil before the trip.

Husker Soze, Last i checked the weather in south Carolina showing 45 F so i m not sure if that consider severe conditions..

Severe conditions refers to the stresses the engine will be exposed to not the weather where you are going to. Things referred to as extreme conditions are towing, long idling, stop and go traffic, overly dusty conditions etc.

Exactly, many oil change places charge well over $100 for full synthetic and even then don't even ask how much Mobil 1 is at those places. Funny thing is, 5 qts of Mobil 1 is around $25 at Walmart all the time (it's $19.99 right now). Even the cheaper synthetic offbrand stuff isn't that much cheaper. Generic conventional is around $14 for 5 qts. It is too hard to spend an additional $5-10 for the best when you do it once every 5,000-7,500 miles? Heck, spring a couple bucks extra for a decent filter too. Don't get the cheapest junk one.

It takes maybe 20 minutes to change the oil in most cars/suv's, it's a good life skill to have. When done, bring the old oil back to Wally World for recycling. Pretty easy.

Does anyone know if full-synthetic or conventional oil is installed coming out of the factory?
