What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

@jw_tx21 Thank you for the feedback and recommendations. As you noted, I did not negotiate the price at the time of order. Shame on me. If the dealership will strike the $2000 premium then I think I will go ahead with the sale.

Or the add-ons. Most are worthless anyway. I eventually agreed to about $800 in "add-ons" worth a fraction of that. My alternative option was a vehicle at MSRP (no add-ons), but it would have required me to travel - an additional expense and time. There's always a trade-off. Keep negotiating - decide what you want. I would expect a premium for a Prestige trim. The bottom line is that they are trying to offset discounts they give on other vehicles to move them with the markups on the popular Telluride - and maximize profitability in a challenging market for overall auto sales. The Prestige will make you happy. So, there's room to give on both sides.

Possibly. Yes, it depends on the dealer. But, some particular dealers that price the lowest, are also having the longest waits because their allocations aren't sufficient. Especially for Prestige. Even Classic Kia Carrollton is imposing $3k markups - although I don't know if that applies to orders. I still think he should try to negotiate on price and take that one. Sounds like price wasn't agreed upon at time of order.

Btw, @Natelee53, if you do decide to walk and want some dealers to potentially order from (and can wait 6-8 months), many members have recommendations.

Yes, Classic KIA is now adding a markup. Thankfully they are honoring my order at MSRP - demand still outpaces supply and I understand why the dealerships are now doing it. @StephenCantrelle fought hard to keep those that ordered with him back in the winter/spring to retain their MSRP status and I am very thankful.

Yes, please read my long post in detail and put in your numbers.

But, here's some quick math:

475x36 = $17,100
+ $3,500 down
= $20,600 (Total of payments)

So, you're paying $20,600 to rent the vehicle for 3 years. Residual is probably around 0.6 - based on that MSRP that would be $21,675.

Add the two - $42,275. That would be close to the total you would pay if you bought the car at the end of the lease. So, about $6100 added to MSRP in taxes, fees and interest. Is it a good deal? I don't think so. But, you need money factor and residual they are using.

At one point Kia did have some specials on the S leases which weren't too bad. But, with their low APR finance rates and the rate with rebate, their purchase options are much more attractive.
Ok I am back with the residual and money factor they are using.

MSRP-$36,135
Lease Cash-$1700
Down Payment-$3000+first month payment
Trade-$500(I have a car that needs a new motor and whole bunch of other stuff)
Residual-$22,403.70(I assume that is about 60%)
Money Factor-.00168
Sales Tax for Texas-6.25%
12K miles/year for 36 months

I will use the formula you posted earlier to see how these numbers add up. I have an appointment to pick up the vehicle tomorrow. If the numbers don't look right for me, I will be ok walking the hell out LOL!
*Sidebar* I do NOT plan on purchasing this vehicle at the end of the lease.

Based on those numbers I'd calculate a lease payment of around $408 per month. Just watch out for markups that raise your lease payment. You should be able to agree to everything before going to the dealership, but many Kia dealers won't do this as they want to sell extra warranties etc. On a lease vehicle, they'll probably push overpriced wheel and tire protection packages.

Wow! That’s interesting! I will definitely look for added fees. I’m sure they can be waived. At least I’ll try! Should I go ahead and get pre-approved from their online portal? I was thinking about waiting until I actually got my eyes on the car before I pulled the trigger.😬

No reason to fill out a credit app ahead of time. Wait until you are happy with the offer. You have excellent credit, so that won't be an issue.

Thank so much! I greatly appreciate your time and expertise! Wish me luck!🙏

I am going to be purchasing a Telluride soon and was going to pay cash. Any reason not to take Kia up on the $500 rebate and pay it off shortly thereafter? No early payoff fee.

Looking at the lease deal- don’t forget the acquisition fee usually charged by the finance company, in this case probably Kia finance. This fee can be rolled into the payment or paid up front to lower the monthly payment. The money factor can be converted into the interest rate by multiplying it by 2400, so with your numbers it would be right around 4%. Looks like the residual is 62%.

I got a quote from a dealer today for an SX that was around $57,000. This seems extremely high to me based on everything I can find in forums, internet reviews, prices paid, etc. Does anyone see a reason why a Telluride would be above 55k? Maybe an SX fully loaded to the gills with all options? We are going to test drive one in a few days.

It really depends. It CAN be worth it to some people but you may be able to do better if you are willing to shop around and are not in immediate need. Was an SX with Prestige? With Tow Package? What part of the country? Did that price include all taxes, fees, registration, etc....the out the door price?

Do it.

We are in the Northeast and I dont know the exact package (yet) just that it is an SX. We decided to go today so I will get much more info. And yes, I plan to shop around at that price:)
Thanks!

Northeast can vary quite a bit. In NY/NJ it seems it is very common to find above MSRP but you can find deals closer to MSRP with some work. I haven't read or heard much about CT, RI, NH, VT or Maine. In Massachusetts where I am, there are several dealers selling at MSRP but the wait times seem to be a few months unless you find something incoming to a dealer that is not claimed yet. There are also dealers selling at a markup in Mass but I see that mostly with in stock units.

At $57,000 they are marking up over MSRP by $7000 - $10,000

Does that include sales tax?

If you add every package to the SX now available its just over $54k plus TTL so possibly. Damn next year I can see it being a $60k vehicle, without markups. KIA = drug dealer now Haha got everybody hooked

Not sure how yours is cheaper than this but I suggest you find a dealer to place the order for you and buy it!

Sorry I left off optional paint so add $495 if you select one of those colors.
