What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

I just put a deposit down on an LX in Sangria on Long Island, NY. Dealers around here all wanted $3-5k over sticker, but the dealer I went with offered MSRP +$1000 rebate since the car was used for test drives. Feeling like I got a good deal- but what is everyone's thoughts?

How many miles. I think, at this point, if you can secure a Telly at, below or very close to MSRP, then you are in good shape. They are practically non-existent now, as everyone anticipates the 2021's!

He said 800 miles is on the car. I checked the VIN lookup tool that a forum member made, and it looks like the car I'm looking at got it's VIN created in early Sept 2019 so it's possible that it's been on their lot for 6+ months as a test drive vehicle.

As long as it is in good shape and it is certified new with full warranty, seems like a deal. You get it much sooner than a 21. Also, I was never able to test drive without the salesman in the car, so I doubt it was like the valet scene in Ferris Bueller, where they tore that sweet car up. BUT, 800 miles in test drives is a TON of people in the car, I would really inspect the interior as well!!!

ASK for a FULL detailing, inside and out!

I know I was thinking the same thing... 800 miles for test drives?? Seems high unless there was 400+ people doing test drives which is kind of unsettling to think about LOL. This dealership also has a couple of other Tellurides available so I'm thinking they might be trying to get rid of the 2020 models if they're selling the test drive vehicle.

There are also some that shared that they picked up a Telly that the GM had been driving, so that might be some miles too. Nothing that says that's a bad thing at all. i know locally the GM was driving an SXP that eventually was sold.

That is the most outrageous "deal" that I have heard of.... These things aren't made of gold. It's only a damn car. The 15K is really off the charts, though he probably is exaggerating. Have heard 5K, 8K, 10K. Where do you live? KIAs reputation will be hurt by this in the end. At least that is my thought.

Our local dealer is selling a new LX at a $10k markup, ~43,500. It's crazy!

Came back to check in on the Telluride prices, 9 months or so after I was first looking at them. Crazy to see them still going for such a markup, it seems they've never been able to meet the demand, considering the prices still being charged and the fact they're still quite rare on the roads.

I ended up leasing a pretty well spec'd Volvo XC90, for much less that I'd have been paying on an equivalent SX level Telluride. Its nicer in many ways but certainly not all, esp behind the front row where its long in the tooth vs the brand new Telly. The dealer experience is a massive step up though.

Greetings Telluride fans! I need help! I am currently looking to lease out a Telluride for either 24 or 36 months. My preference is the EX premium package, but I will settle for the S. I put a down payment on an S recently, but I need some help with the numbers I was quoted. I have an excellent credit score (over 800). MSRP is $36,125 (will not pay a dime over). $500 trade in, $3000 down, 12K miles per year with a monthly payment of $475 for 36 months. I keep hearing that this is a horrible deal, but when I utilize lease calculators, this deal doesn’t seem too bad. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Yes, please read my long post in detail and put in your numbers.

But, here's some quick math:

475x36 = $17,100
+ $3,500 down
= $20,600 (Total of payments)

So, you're paying $20,600 to rent the vehicle for 3 years. Residual is probably around 0.6 - based on that MSRP that would be $21,675.

Add the two - $42,275. That would be close to the total you would pay if you bought the car at the end of the lease. So, about $6100 added to MSRP in taxes, fees and interest. Is it a good deal? I don't think so. But, you need money factor and residual they are using.

At one point Kia did have some specials on the S leases which weren't too bad. But, with their low APR finance rates and the rate with rebate, their purchase options are much more attractive.

DOWN SIDE is if you purchase the vehicle you have to pay Sales Tax on the entire purchase. In many states you pay sales tax only on the payments for the term of the lease/monthly payments. Would have to do the math. Not sure which would be better. Leases are always (to me) a mystery formula and I don't always know if I am getting a good deal...

I’ve always wanted to know what states are better to purchase vehicles in.

It’s where you register it not where you buy it.

Thanks

military here.
I reside in GA, but vehicles are plated in TN. Dealer did the math and using the TN address for registration is cheaper than GA.

While TN had a higher sales tax (no income tax state), GA has a TAVT which ends up being more....I guess.
