What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

Wait, what? I know there is no state income tax in TN, but no sales tax for active duty. I literally just bought my vehicle in Memphis 2 days ago and paid what sales tax was left over after the reduction from my trade in. How did you swing this
Who did you buy from? I’m in TN too.
If you are active duty stationed in TN all you have to do is show your LES and orders and you won’t have to pay sales tax for vehicles.

Sorry took me a while I was driving to California. I purchased the vehicle from Auffenberg Kia in O’Fallon IL. I went out of state because all dealerships in TN where charging ridiculous prices. I couldn’t be happier with my experience.

Sorry I was driving for like 3 days from Nashville to California…it was brutal.

I just ordered mine from Lucas Boehm at Kia of Muncy Indiana for $1200 under MSRP Costco pricing for SX Prestige AWD towing in Gravity Grey/black interior plus $400 former military incentive minus $200 dealer administrative fee plus sales tax. I live in Seattle, so will ship it in an enclosed truck for $2500 from Indiana to Seattle or $1600 if I do the shipping myself in a non-enclosed truck. Even with $2500 shipping, this is still about $1000 cheaper because of taxes/fees than what I was able to get in Washington State ($2000 above MSRP from Kia of Pullayup with 20 year/200,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty). Lucas quoted wait time as 7-8 months. I called every dealership in Washington state (Lee Johnson Kia at $3000 was the next cheapest for factory orders), and most in in nearby Montana, Utah, Idaho, Oregon etc., but couldn't get close to MSRP for a factory order.

You will pay CA sales tax and over $600 in other car fees if you intend to register car in CA.

Wondering about expectations for price off msrp—my dealer is now taking orders but will only do it for msrp. Any ideas about negotiating price or expected rebates/incentives? Are other Kia models discounted much?
For my 2021 S trim (AWD), I paid $39,435 + $2,000 dealer markup (Oaks Kia in Kansas City). This included several options added at the factory. (See screenshot HERE of add ons from window sticker.) Then there was licensing and sales tax of about $2,400 plus I added Ziebart's Z-Shield Paint Protection Film as well as tinted windows from Ziebart ($1,880 for both with tax) plus they did my hitch just this week ($595 + tax which included a CURT hitch + 4-pin and 7-pin connectors) and they added high end LED headlights ($299 + tax) which I'm very happy with. So I guess I paid about $46,565.

I just came here to visit so I registered the car in TN. I still have my orders taking me to TN so it was fairly easy other than having to send all the paperwork via mail. Paid $0 in taxes and $106 to register the car.

Definitely cheaper in TN, about $5K in sales tax here.

Just picked up today at Hendrick Cary, NC KIA. I got wheel locks and the factory tow package, that was it for options. Finance guy was a PITA, otherwise, everyone was very nice. I was told they are now limiting orders to NC and surrounding states only.

Supply and pricing seems to be getting tighter.
How many months were you quoted when you ordered? I ordered from them a few weeks ago.

Any pointers what's the supply demand situation in Phoenix? What are you folks paying for EX/SX models? Which dealer would you prefer?

I’ve been doing a very similar thing and I’m in Southern Washington. I was actually leaning towards Kia of Puyallup for the warranty since we would plan to keep it for quite some time.

That wait time is enormous so I may have to find another option but great job finding such a good deal. I may have to check on them.

The quoted wait time at Kia Pullyallup and Kia of Muncy was similar. The 200,000/20 yr powertrain sounds nice, but I just felt like car electronics is changing so much these days, it's unlikely I would keep a car for more than 10 years and I don't put that much mileage on. And my elementary age kids will be so different then. I had originally thought I might make some money back on the taxes saved from doing a trade-in in Washington, but there was some complaints about Kia Pullayup giving bad deals for trade ins so I thought I would just sell my current car myself since dealers always give you a bad deal. Lee Johnson quoted 4-6 months for 3k over MSRP or 5k for cars that are coming in that people decide they don't want, so maybe an option for you if you really need it earlier. For us, it's going to be painful not having AWD for another ski season and for some camping trips on forest roads where our Honda Odyssey has terrible clearance. You can get the $500 deposit for the Telluride refunded if you decide not to take the car, so I felt this would be an option if I really decide I can't take the wait anymore.

SX AWD Prestige, nightfall, tow package, carpet floor mats and wheel locks.
MSRP 50, 575
taxes& registration for CA 4600
dealer fee 699
Add-on forced by dealer (SAFE STOP) : 289
10/100K warranty (Comprehensive platinum/ 0 deductible) 1799 (negotiated down from 3999)

Total 57, 962.
i see the dealer fee and add-on as the Mark up of 988.. not bad compared to NorCal mark ups of 7-15 K

Very nice.

I put in my order yesterday with I25 KIA in Colorado. I didn’t get under MSRP like you did and maybe should of pursued that. I did get it at MSRP though and feel like that flight/drive back would be pretty painless.

I know someone that purchased a Kia from Ron Tonkin Kia in Portland and they shared a sales reps number with me. I got a hold of them and they said, cause I was a referral, they would knock their markup down $5k to only $15k above MSRP (LOL).

Doing the trade in with I25 means I’m not trading my vehicle in either. They may be able to do it but I didn’t even ask. It’ll be a little more for taxes but, hopefully, I can recoup some of those costs by selling my vehicle by owner. Hopefully prices stay decent.

My wait time was quoted as 3-5 months.

Anyway, good luck! Sounds like you got a smoking deal.

Timbrook KIA in Cumberland, MD sells off the lot and via order at MSRP. I used Michael Marvin and had a great experience.

I placed an order through a different sales person at Timbrook based on positive reviews on here on Sept. 20. They estimated 3-4 months, but are now giving me basically no info. They say they have no way of telling me how many orders are in front of me. I understand that being picked up in kfos isn't an exact science, but they just keep giving me nonsense responses and saying thanks for my patience. I'm wondering if I should just place an order somewhere else at this point. What was your experience with them like?

Michael Marvin was very responsive, although I bought from them a little differently than most. I never placed an order. I expressed my interest and Michael would keep in touch letting me know what was coming in that was available. Unfortunately, nothing that met the specs I was looking for. I was very close to placing an order. I was also checking Failcat frequently and saw one coming in that matched what I was looking for. I reached out to Michael about it. It wasn't on their upcoming list yet, so he looked into it and got back to me in a short amount of time to let me know it was a customer order and the customer had backed out. He offered it to me to purchase with a deposit. I took advantage of that and it came in about 2 weeks earlier than his original estimate. Very smooth transaction overall. Like I said though, not typical of how most are buying.

I am looking to purchase a SXP nightfall with tow package in the SC/NC/GA area for MSRP. Does anyone know any dealerships in these states that are offering this?

I put a deposit on one that was "coming in" in October. It had all the features I was looking for. Probably one the dealer had on order. Not exactly sure. The dealer did not have a VIN number so the vehicle was not even built. I worked with Alexis and she was very helpful. I made the deposit on 9/2/21. The VIN showed up on failcat.com on 9/29/21. Got a call on 10/09 the car was at the dealership and picked it up on 10/10. I really have no idea how long the wait might have been if I had just ordered one at the beginning of September. Just lucky I guess that the vehicle was already on order. I hope this helps. Hope you can be as lucky as I was.
How did you know it was your VIN on failcat?

hi @NCBill - just placed an order through Hendrick myself. When you say the finance guy was difficult, can you expand on that? i will be financing so would be great to know what i'm going into :)
