What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

Hi all, new to the forum. Had a question I was hoping to get some help with. I ordered an 2022 SX Limited (Canada) back in October and it arrived this week. But the dealer is now telling me that the interest rate we agreed to in the contract has increased by half a percent.

We made a point to discuss with the salesman at that time that the rate was locked and could only go down, not up. I obviously should have got something in writing but didn’t. That salesman has since left.

There isn’t anything on the contract that talks about interest rates but I’m not sure if I can even argue this? I wasn’t able to find much online.

Am I SOL? The dealer offered to cancel the deal in full but I would still like the car. Just feels like a matter of principal. Thanks for any help.
did you put any money down to reserve the vehicle? Also does anything you signed say that the terms of the contract cant be amended unless in writing? Honestly, the best you are probably going to get as far as a remedy is the ability to walk away from the deal - I doubt you could even force the lower interest rate because it is probably outside their control.

Thanks JAM. Yes put down $1,000 deposit. TBH I can’t even recall what was signed, it was back in early Oct. All I have with me is the sales contract. Kia did raise the vehicle price by $500 but it does say that could happen on the contract. So no argument there.

I did call Kia Canada and they say they can’t help. Financing and contracts is a dealer responsibility.

Agree to whatever they say then refinance somewhere else.....unfortunately rise of rates is par for the course right now 🤷‍♀️

Were you able to get them to drop the carpet floor mats? I have one on order but they said the carpet floor mats were part of their dealer package. Any other tips or advice for dealing with Moritz? Jim has been super helpful to this point.

Thanks
Price shop the wheel and tire package with Kia of Muncie. Don't buy a EX warranty unless you know you're as low as it gets. You can refi at a lower rate the next day. We actually got a car that became available well before our order. Luck. We added the rubber mats. The tint is not dark enough for Texas summers.

Interest rates are rising. Never heard of a lock on an auto loan for 5 months. Finance it through another bank if you don't like the rate.

Greetings all ........ wondering if anyone has had any luck with any western US dealers willing to sell at MSRP when ordering a vehicle? Any recommendations? Thanks !!!

The only MSRP in the west that I've found are Fowler Kia or Peak Kia North, both in the Denver area. They both are quoting 5-7 months for delivery. I ordered from Fowler in January and plan to fly out and pick it up. They will also ship for ~$1800 give or take depending on distance.

Thanks much ! Just what I needed.

For what it's worth I did a quick search in Arizona and found a loaded SX in Gilbert that is being sold at MSRP. It's white w/black interior. Just what I wanted except for the black interior color. So I guess it's not as difficult to locate these vehicles in stock at no more than MSRP as I thought.

You sure about that? Just because the dealer shows MSRP on their website doesn’t mean they’re necessarily selling at MSRP. There could be “mandatory add-ons” or a “market adjustment” above the MSRP. (‘Murica.) Did you call the dealer? Go there and verify?

I‘m in NJ, but because I’m crazy and have a little extra time today, I checked out that dealer here and around the ‘net. There aren’t any recent posts here about them, but the few that are here mentioned a markup. And that was in 2019. It’s way worse now.

I wish you luck, but don’t get your hopes up too high. If they are selling at MSRP and it’s not already sold, grab it.

They quoted me actually ......

Shopped around a little bit in Northern CA tarting in November. Most dealers were looking for $7500-$10K over MSRP. Folsom Kia had a $5k mark-up with no other extra fees. We ordered an EX which arrived in February. The rest of the experience was just fine. Around $55K OTD for an EX NFP with tow package. Have hunted through this page to find the interior accessories we wanted. Went with Tux Mat floor Mats and ordered the Telluride split cargo mat from Canada.
Congrats! We ordered from Folsom in February after shopping around here, too - it was the quickest ETA with the lowest markup in the area.

Do you remember about how long your wait was? They are quoting us 3-4 months.

Ordered an LX FWD on 11/24 for MSRP from Crain Kia of Fayetteville. I think they are no longer doing MSRP, but are going to honor what they quoted me, we shall see. With 4k towards the new one from the trade in we are looking at a little over 31k OTD

How do you know your KFOS was picked up? ordered on 11/24 and dealership knows absolutely nothing.
I believe the only way to know if your order is picked up is through the dealer. You can look at failcat under the dealer tab to see how many cars that dealership usually gets a month.

Which dealer? All the quotes I got were a minimum of $8500 above sticker here in AZ. I ended up ordering out of state.

Your're right. I was talking to the one in Gilbert and although I was told by one of their internet guys that I would only have to pay MSRP ........ when I talked to an actual salesman, their tune changed. I didn't even ask how much of a markup they wanted. In the end ....... for me anyways it makes zero sense to buy one of these now. I recently ordered a Ford Explorer ST that I was able to purchases for under invoice. Even paying MSRP for a vehicle ... any vehicle just goes against everything I believe in. lol good luck ...

Thanks - yeah the market is nuts right now. I ordered from Muncie while they were still honoring the "Costco" pricing which was below MSRP. However, the wait will be 10-12 months from when I ordered. There's no way I would pay any type of markup. I agree that even MSRP doesn't sound right!

I actually don't mind paying over MSRP as it seems that Kia underpriced this vehicle in hindsight. I just hate the inconsistency in strategies by the various dealers the bait and switch tactics that they try to employ through their websites and over the phone. It puts a big time and effort tax on the process and I think it hurts the Kia brand overall. It basically makes this forum valuable.

I didn't ask at the time, but I know it is their standard thing. I got Tux mats so now have a set of mats in the garage to put back in the car in 10 years or so.

I don't think they underpriced the vehicle. We are in crazy times with parts shortages. The fact that they cannot manufacture enough vehicles is what is driving up the price- not that they priced it too low. Same goes with EVERY popular vehicle in this market. The markups over MSRP are bullshit, and Kia should put a stop to it like Ford and GM are trying to do with their dealers.

Don't use that as an excuse to justify paying over MSRP by these awful dealers.
