Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

If you financed through KIA, there is no minimum for the length of the loan. You can pay it off right away no matter what the dealer told you.
Oh Really? Good to know! I will look into it then. Thanks!

So, why does the west coast suck so much compared to the rest of the country? You guys are all praising the east coast and midwest dealers. Like many others from CA, OR and WA, I've searched far and wide and its the same broken record. I know its all about supply and demand. But are most buyers really that dumb to overpay so much? Or maybe they just don't care as much? What's another $3-8K if you have money to burn, I guess? I'm just surprised the majority are paying it. Otherwise, dealerships would have to lower prices closer to MSRP.

That's a good question. People must be paying the premium, otherwise you're right, the prices would come down. I refuse, I'd rather miss out on this great vehicle and get something else, but I'm not going to be part of the problem and drive up the price. I suspect those overpaying the most are the impatient type that won't consider waiting for an order, or flying to Denver to pick up from I-25 Kia. And probably the ones who can least afford to overpay.

Just picked up our Telluride at Classic Kia in Waukegan, IL. John Plewka was out sales rep and he was excellent. The process was smooth and painless. No games in financing. Great experience.

Ordered 4/15, picked up 5/22

Thankz for this i took your advice and called him this morning and went out there in the afternoon! Worked out great i have mines order now! I had to cancel an order i had with Berwyn Kia they had the price jacked up plus i had ordered it back in april and no calls of and update at all!

Classic Kia was on point my experience was a pleasant one and John walked me through everything. I told him someone had mentioned him on this board.. i would recommend them anyone else in the chicagoland.. thankz again! (y)

It’s not so great here on the East Coast either. There are only 2-3 dealers here in all of NJ selling at MSRP and I can’t recall anyone stating they were able to find a dealer selling at MSRP in NYC or on Long Island. Some dealers that were formerly selling at MSRP have recently instituted mark-ups.

And yes, people are paying over MSRP. Check out the Facebook groups. Not the way I would roll (I would’ve been fine in a Palisade or keeping my 2013 Accord another year or two if I didn’t get my Telluride for MSRP), but to each his or her own.

This makes sense then. The two dealers by me in Pennsylvania that I called (Murray Kia and Sussman Kia) both told me that people all over the East Coast are calling them to place orders. Both of them are selling at MSRP with no markups or forced dealer nonsense.

Let's allow our members and readers to SKIP the bad dealers and give their business to those dealers who've treated you RIGHT.

Please take a moment to reply with your good experience so we can steer other buyers toward that dealership...

Good experience with Allyson Vaughn at Moritz Kia Alliance in Fort Worth, Texas.

I'm from Oklahoma City, where dealers are charging (and getting!) up to $10,000 over MSRP. It took multiple in-person visits to one dealer in OKC before they would even give me that price!

I found Moritz online, and Allyson assured me they would let me order at MSRP. You use kia.com to select exactly what you want, and they print it out and order the Telluride as you ask for it. The (refundable) deposit was $500. Their delivery charges seemed to me to be about average or below average, and they gave me good value for my trade-in.

They kept their promises, delivering exactly the car I ordered at MSRP, with no further surprises. The customer service was also good. I don't blame them for the significant lag in order time to pickup, because we can see on this forum that the dealer has little control over it.

If you're any reasonable distance from Fort Worth, it's worth seeking out Allyson Vaughn at Moritz Kia Alliance.

2021 SX, Ebony Black, Butterscotch leather, tow package

Ordered Dec. 8, 2020

Given ETA of June 14 on March 10

Updated ETA of May 30 on March 29

VIN number received on May 27

Delivered to dealer June 13

Picked up June 14

Lawrence KIA: They were fantastic! They are the number one volume dealer in their District, yet they treated me like I was the only customer that day.

1. I received a GREAT price! No haggling nonsense, just a GREAT price via email conversation.
2. We ordered via $250 down in mid-February, and I took possession on June 10th.

I flew out from Portland, OR, arrived at MCI and Harvey picked me up from the dealership and drove me back (great guy). I had completed all the paperwork via digital forms, so only had to do a few inspection approval paperwork while there. The sales person assigned to me was great. He knew all about the vehicle, showed some features even I didn't know about (like the app which controls remote start and temperature and all that via iPhone app - sweet!).

I then hit a Chipotle for dinner. Drove 3 hours to Lincoln, and then made it from Lincoln, NB to Tigard, OR in two-days. Never was my back sore or legs tired, nothing! If my hands needed a break, HDA tech is awesome for that!

And of course, if you are a fair distance from Lawrence KIA and don't want to drive, you can arrange to have it shipped. That was my first option, but since February shipping costs have skyrocketed due to fuel costs and a hot shipping market. So I saved about $1k and just flew out and drove it home.

If you call or email them, as for Chris P. and tell them "Peter Kirkride" of Tigard, OR sent you! AKA - Mark.

Any questions let me know!

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

But, with all due respect, when it comes to the Telluride, “great price” is usually code for “above MSRP”.

It was BELOW $1k below sticker! Throw in the $500 KMF financing bonus, and it was over $1500 under sticker... But again, I don't want to throw out their price as that was a deal I took in mid-February. What they are pricing them out now is anyone's guess.

However, at the time (February) they were absolutely the lowest price I found in the nation, and I hunted well over 50 dealerships nation-wide! Hope that helps.

Well, then, ya done real good! Congrats!

I’m not who you are addressing, but I can vouch for Hendrick Kia in Cary. Ordered SX FWD on 3/20 with $1k refundable deposit at MSRP, was told 16-20 weeks, great communication from the sales person I’ve been working with since then, and just got my vin number yesterday for a 2022 with a tentative 6/19 delivery. So far they have underpromised and over delivered. Can’t say anything negative about them so far. Always super responsive with my questions and very knowledgeable and up front about any info they have. Definitely worth checking out.
@Buttnkdwonder can I ask which salesperson you worked with at Hendrick? And do you mind sharing their email info? Thanks! I’m looking to reach out to Hendrick Kia for a potential order as well. Hope your Telly is delivered soon!

I can add that Carolina Kia in High Point, NC is a good dealer to purchase your Telluride from. Just picked up my Telluride S Dark Moss/Gray yesterday. Only added $660 doc fee above MSRP. Easy to work with and good experience. Ask for Patrick.
what other fees did you pay? Was their destination fee and another “dealership fee”?

There is always a destination fee. That's not negotiable. Charged by corporate Kia, it's not a dealership thing.

Had a great experience with Murray Kia of Conshohocken - got a SX Nightfall Prestige AWD for MSRP. They were great to work with the whole time. Our salesperson was Erick, but we also dealt with the manager Mike who was good as well.

While we were there picking up our Telluride we saw 2 full car carriers bringing in more vehicles, so they seem to be moving a good amount of vehicles.

Hey I am thinking of ordering through there or sussman. How long was your order to delivery?
