Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

I am not sure what to make of this but the Sussman in PA is giving me bad vibes.

1) I keep asking him if I can use the KIA motor financing at the time when the car gets here and he keeps saying his rates are better and wont answer YES or NO (quoting 1.99 APR which is actually a little higher than KIA right now).
2) Asking for non-refundable deposit

They call what they do a "factory order" but other places in the area Bergey just seems to shoot it more straight they say when they get an allocation that matches you with your place on the list they will give you a call and opportunity to put down a refundable deposit. Also not giving me a run around answer on the financing.

Not sure if I am being paranoid but it seems a little shady at Sussman but interested to hear if people had any issues using KIA financing there?
Not sure what you ended up doing, but I ordered from sussman and was told the deposit is refundable. I’ll most likely be talking them up on that refund because they’ve pushed back my order multiple times now and I just placed an order with i25

Just bought my 2022 Kia Telluride from South Shore Kia of Copiague, NY. In the 3 weeks since I bought my EX/Premier, the dealer has a new owner. The other owner banged me $7000 over MSRP of almost $45k. I know I didn't have to buy the car , but I know things aren't going to get any easier with the BS chip shortages. They had on the showroom floor the car that had 80% of what I wanted. I have been reading all the positive reports and I know that I will get good resale value later on. This dealer overcharged the MSRP, didn't offer me the 1.9% financing that I had to tell them about and had to tell them about the Kia military discount of $400. I did not give them a good review on the after sale review.
The "Car" is fantastic !

Also, I traded my 2012 Chevy Suburban Z71 with only 63,000 miles on her. The car was absolutely perfect ! I maintain all my cars. I still have my Dad's 1967 Cadillac convertible that was purchased brand new. South Shore Kia initially offered me $16,000 for trade and I told them no way. I ended up trading it to them for $18,500. This saved me almost $1600 more in taxes on the new EX. I found the truck listed at Fred Beans in Pennsylvania for a whopping $30,000 ! I usually only buy American (Chev/Dodge/Cadillac). The new Telluride has fantastic reviews and I will most likely keep this for many years to come. I have a new 2022 Cadillac CT5V-Blackwing on order and I'll see how that purchase goes. Good thing, I am friends with the Caddy dealer owner and will probably get the Blackwing for MSRP. We'll see in a few weeks/months.

Nightmare experience at Yonkers Kia. I ordered my car (Wolf Gray EX) in July for $3000 over MSRP. Finally received my VIN number in October and began anxiously tracking it. As soon as it arrived at the dealership in November I began calling and emailing to schedule pick up. When I finally got someone on the phone 5 days later, I found out THEY SOLD MY CAR TO SOMEONE ELSE. They did not attempt to contact me once.

No apology. No effort to make it right. Their best offer was to wait for another Wolf Gray EX due to arrive in December that doesn't match my order (still $3000 over MSRP). Absolute garbage customer service. I will never deal with them again, except possibly to sue for breach of contract.
Oh. My. God. I would be, and I know you are, SO PISSED. Every single review/ratings site and whatever news outlet would listen would be getting an earful. Hell, I’d probably stay at the dealerships telling potential customers to run far away until I was forcibly removed.

Started the ordering process with Victoria from Jake Sweeney. Not a great experience, and would not recommend. Communication was poor (even though she seems nice, just sounds like she is overwhelmed). They tried to sneak in “non” refundable in a follow up email, when the first email I received from them clearly said refundable. Decided to hold off until 2023 model is released.

Will check with Puyallup again on the final fees. They are asking me to come down to the showroom to order and for a credit pull.
Did you end up ordering with Puyallup? I’ve got an appointment scheduled soon.

Be careful wasting your time with going into dealers. Once you’re there the power is in their hands. If they have the car you want, great! But otherwise don’t play their games

This dealer is quoting $1,995 over MSRP. They want you to come in to build your vehicle and custom order it. 👍🏻

I placed another order with i25 and have a lot more confidence that it will get filled before the sussman order at which point I will cancel the order at sussman.
I ordered from sussman too, working with Jackie. I ordered at the end of July and got word my car is arriving in a couple weeks.

Not a Kia dealership, but….. 😳

Let's allow our members and readers to SKIP the bad dealers and give their business to those dealers who've treated you RIGHT.

Please take a moment to reply with your bad experience so we can steer other buyers away from that dealership...

GOOD experiences go HERE.
Bev Smith Kia in Ft Pierce Florida called me a liar when I said there are dealers selling with no markup over MSRP. So I went to Dallas and bought from Huffines.

I would NEVER pay that kind of money for a Jeep. The Grand Wagoneers are easily over $100k. I'm on order for a Cadillac Blackwing at $93K.

I’ve been shopping for an SX w/P for about a week now and Jim Ellis Kia of Kennesaw said they may have one inbound. I had to visit the VW dealer next door, so I said what the heck and told them I’d stop by.
One employee followed me around when I arrived, presumably since we had said hello to one time prior as we were window shopping. Then I sat down with Natasha, one of the managers. She had a $48k SX worked up with ~$1500 in market adjustment on the paperwork. I figured I would give her a minute to give the pitch... then as she’s going over the numbers she excuses herself and comes back with the same paper and $5k of market adjustment. I thanked her for time and said I was no longer interested. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I understand supply and demand but this just rubbed me the wrong way. Oh well, I’ll buy from someone else.
We also tried for Jim Ellis since they are local. They said “we sell for MSRP + our Jim Ellis Protection Package (+$5089) lol. The “protection package” is tinted windows and Nitro fill on your tires. After calling around a bunch of places we decided to order from i25 in Colorado.

Kia of West Islip, NY has some Tellurides on their lot right now. I went there first and they said that they weren't custom ordering nor trading other dealers. They are demanding $10,000 over MSRP. Bunch of thieves.

That looks like a Wrangler with the 392. If so, that isn’t as much of an extreme markup.
It does have the 392, but it's still a $20k+ markup

Not that I would pay any markup but the 392 is a limited vehicle versus the ridiculous markup we see on the more common vehicles, it is not unexpected.

Unfortunately, the dealers are required to post the vehicles, reserved or not, until someone takes possession. One of the few things that’s not the dealer’s fault.

Enjoy the car!
Yes I see that. As it turns out, I was getting offers well over what I paid gor my LX so I sold it. I was hoping to go to Nutley Kia since they are the closest to me who isn't charging over msrp. One morning a week after I sold my LX and shuffling family car to work with my kids and wife I got a call from Nutley Kia. I had put my name in thrift their internet site months back, in May or June I think. They just found an SX on their inbound and were calling their list. I shot right down and put the DP down. Waited about 33 days and just picked up the SX (at zero mark up) from a fantastic staff. Wow what a difference the SX is! Very sweet Gravity Grey, Dune Brown int, with black wheels. Beauty.

stay away from sussman especially AJ. I've yet to get him to answer an email despite asking for updates numerous times. When I call, he can't answer any of my questions. I ended up reaching out to the sales manager directly to get any sort of real information regarding my order. Was told a 3-4 month wait when I ordered. I then called in as 3 months was coming up, and he said it was going to be closer to 4. Understandable, since that was still in the original range. I then called a month later and he was saying 6 months. I asked how many cars were ahead of mine, how many get picked up etc, and he couldn't answer any of my questions. I ended up asking for the sales manager who was much more helpful and told me that my order from August hasn't been picked up yet and they know everything they have coming in until end of February and mine wasn't in that list. He said the earliest I should expect my car is March or April.
This is the same line I have been getting at Timbrook Kia in Cumberland, MD.

Congrats. You hit the lottery. I have Ebony Black/Gray SX-P Nightfall. I had to have a heads-up display and a decent sound system. No regrets, and Nutley Kia is great. Plus, as a bonus, Nutley has a lot of awesome Italian places to eat too. They’d make Tony Soprano proud (he may have actually eaten at some of them)…
