Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

Jem0114-
Keffer Kia Mooresville NC is a clown show. Not sure who is the bigger clown though, the people paying these marked up prices or the staff and their deceptive sales practices. Buyer beware.

Haddad Kia in Bakersfield, CA lured us in with the promise of an LX AWD model in grey at MSRP.

Arrived, and now it's in Sangria. Grey model is $8K over. S/EX trims were $10K over and their SX trim was $13K over.

We fought for two hours and they came down to $1900 over sticker, so we walked out. They never even gave us the real price of the car, it was always "what does your payment want to be" etc. Absolute sleeze fest.

Sure. Here you go:

Thanks for the info Tim. I actually contacted Jesse Diaz and unfortunately he could not do anything and that they are holding tight on their "mark ups". Too bad. Thanks again though. I actually visited Kia of Downtown Los Angeles today, and boy are they horrible. Total bait and switch. I will do a separate posting on them.. but they said that they would honor the special that's on the kia.com website for a 36 month lease on an S AWD (349/mo with 3,499 down) but when I got to the dealership.... they guy I spoke to on the phone was "busy" - supposed internet manager and the other idiots pretending to be managers could not figure out what the deal was even when I showed it to them online and basically tried to mark the car up by a few grand... It was hilarious on how they were trying to sell the BS along with special paint protectant that they supposedly added that was not even on the vehicle (no addendum). Such scam artists at Kia of Downtown LA. Avoid at all costs.

Kia of Downtown Los Angeles - Complete bait n switch scam artists!!! AVOID at All Costs!

I actually visited Kia of Downtown Los Angeles and boy are they horrible. Total bait and switch. I spoke and emailed their internet marketing director indicating that they will give me the car at MSRP and even honor the deal that they have on Kia.com web site on a Telluride S AWD which is basically a 36 month lease (349/mo with 3,499 down) but when I got to the dealership, the internet manager was supposedly "busy" (he may not even exist and just be the bait who will say anything to get you to the dealership. He even gave a breakdown of the money down and the monthly payments with tax and license!!! I printed out the email to bring with me. Anyway, I was left dealing with two not so bright individuals who pretended to have no idea about the kia.com website advertisement for the lease. I had to show it to them and then the tried every way they could to not honor it and get out of it. At the end of the day they were trying to incorporate a significant "mark up" into the monthly payments that I clearly saw through (by at least a few thousand dollars.) It was hilarious and yet sad on how they were trying to justify it and even tried to add in a clear coat paint protectant that they were trying to discount which the car did not even have. They actually said that it is posted on the window sticker addendum. Then I pointed out to them, NO it was not - there was no "addendum" sticker on it at all. They didn't know what to say or what to do with themselves at that point and walked away and said they would be right back. They come back and try to start over with the same BS and say that they will discount the paint protectant which was non-existent. Too funny. I forgot to check Yelp.com before I went to the dealership but did so when I returned home - and sure enough, others said the same - bait n switch. Too sad.... dealerships like this give the brand a bad name. I wonder if Kia corporate has any clue about these shenanigans.... Avoid this dealership at all costs.

Will do, and you do likewise.

Any luck finding a dealer in NJ or PA at msrp? I’ve had zero success thus far!!!

The dealer section on the forum shows that tri-city KIA is selling prestige at $500 off MSRP. It's in North Carolina which may be to far away for you

So probably already been posted about. But I love 3 hours away from Southwest Kia in mesquite, tx. I called them to find the availability of a white sx prestige that I’ve been searching all over for. The window stickers msrp is 48,125 they told me they did have it in stock and it was on their showroom. I asked the price as I was very interested and the the sales associate told me the current list price was 65k!!! I will continue to wait for my ordered one that I payed msrp for.

$65k for a KIA suv, okaaay, that’s some real good stuff they are sniffing.

WTF !!!

KIA Corporate needs to stop this .
This price gouging is doing nothing but giving a negative name to the KIA brand.

Dealership should be held accountable in some way as well.

Yeah, it’s a free market economy, MSRP is suggested pricing. But, these dealership are going to start losing customers for the underhanded tactics they are employing.

Why would corporate do anything? Look at the Supra or anytime a new CR-V or a car with a loyal following comes out.

Too bad some dealers are taking this approach unlike the one dealer here that is going to gain customers due to their good prices.

Yep, was in there on Friday. The SX Prestige they had on the showroom was exactly what we're looking for. I literally laughed out loud when I saw the $65,000 price on a $48,000 MSRP vehicle. I wanted to get a value on my trade so I played along and let them give me an offer, they discounted on the SX $2,000. Hilarious. There were two different "market adjustments" listed on all of the extras. One was $12,500 I think and the other was another $2,500 along with a dealer package of useless stuff. It's brazen for sure.

That dealership left me with such a sour taste in my mouth. It reeked of what my preconceived notions were of a Kia dealership. Dirty, old, and the obvious feeling that they move a lot of cars. The "manager" up in his corner perch with all the salesmen hanging around. That same day we test drove a Q7 from Audi Plano. Worlds apart of course.

I know Huffines in McKinney is ordering at MSRP. We wound up ordering from Classic Kia in Texarkana. Really nice, low-key place at MSRP. Not even a deposit required.

Another one from Southwest Kia Mesquite to this list. SX Prestige Grey on Gray. MSRP 46,960. They are marking it up to 61k!! I told them I would go buy an Audi today instead for that price

A friend went to look at some Tellurides at KIA of Des Moines. They have a $3000 markup they would not budge on (up from the $1500 markup in they had in may). He told them of other dealerships that are charging MSRP in Iowa and elsewhere and they claimed those dealerships are lying. They then told him if he didn't want the one on the showroom floor he could they could order one, however the price would be whatever their markup was when it arrived. Which they also said was guaranteed to go higher then the current $3000. Shaking my head.
