Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Not sure how or what to search for since autotrader just lists MSRP price for new cars and you can't see if the dealership marks it up.
You can't expect to get reliable, up-to-date, concrete price information without communicating directly with the dealers. Find locations that seem to have inventory available (either on the lot or in transit), then send emails and/or texts and make calls. Repeat. That's the only way. It has to be a continuous process, not a one-time inquiry. You can even get on dealer lists and have them contact you when something comes in, which helps.

My local Kia dealer (the one closest to my home, not the one where I bought my Telluride) lists its limited inventory on its website by MSRP, in ascending order. Here's what the end of the current list looks like:
  • 2023 Carnival SX Prestige: $47,885
  • 2022 Sorento Plug-in Hybrid SX Prestige: $50,945
  • 2022 Stinger GT2: $55,545
  • 2022 Telluride S: Call For Price

I had a really good experience at Lou Fusz Kia in St. Louis, Mo. For the first time in all of my car buying experiences, nobody tried to upsell me on anything or overcharge for anything. I ordered the Telluride I wanted (2022 SX Prestige with towing, in Gravity Gray), waited exactly 5 months and it showed up with no problems. They didn't pressure me to buy anything else, but did offer insurance quotes. I asked for a quote on the 10 year 100,000 mile, $0 deductible extended warranty plan which I bought for $2020; not the lowest I've seen, but close to it. I traded my old car for a fair price. I am quite pleased.
This is where we bought ours from in 2020. It was totaled a few weeks ago and it's where we'll be buying our replacement from as well. Although they told us it's now 8-10 months.

While I didn't order a Telluride with them (EV6 this time), I have to Regal Kia (Lakeland, FL) has been a pleasure to deal with so far and they only charge MSRP and no forced add ons. The ordering process has been as smooth as the out of state buyers.

Wanted to respond about Kia of Puyallup as we took possession of our vehicle this last weekend. They were awesome and straightforward from beginning to finish. They are no longer taking orders from anyone outside of Puyallup, and now charge $3k over MSRP, but they still honored the $2k from our order last November. I didn’t even have to ask them about it.

Good to hear. I had talked to them back when it was $2k but they only had small # of orders they'd take for people outside of Puyallup and they said to check back later. When I did check back it was up to $3k. Already had order in with other dealer by then so ended up not doing it. Sad to see markups going up instead of down though.

Glad they took care of you well.

I had a great experience with Lucas Boehm at Kai of Muncie. The process was long (11 months) but he was quick to respond to my emails and calls. I flew up from Atlanta to pickup the 22 EX and he had someone bring it to the airport - saving me time and effort going to the dealership. All the paperwork was completed in advance so I spent no time at the airport.

They will not sale at MSRP on a Telluride. I tried.

An order?

On the lot I don’t think any dealer sells at MSRP not even the ones you order from at MSRP. Peak Kia, Arapahoe, South Dade, etc have markup on abandoned or on lot cars.

What did Regal quote you?

11,000.00 over MSRP. But said could do better if I came In. And was local. I live in Tampa.

Was this an order or a Telluride on the lot?

Trust me... even the Good Dealers here that charge MSRP for orders will markup $3K to $10K on cars that are on the lot (abandoned orders). Buying a Telluride off the lot is EXPENSIVE. Don't be impatient :)

I did buy a 2022 Telluride from Muncie IN. At MSRP I was very happy with them. I was hoping to get a 2023 Telluride closer to home. But will buy again from Lucas in Indiana. Long story my daughter got the 2022.

This was to order a 2023 when they come out.

Wow... yikes. I thought they would be MSRP. My EV6 order is at MSRP and that's more in demand than a Telluride.

I bought my 2022 EX Premium from Lucas with Kia of Muncie, IN. I live in NC but we’ll worth the flight and ride home. Kia of Muncie was recommended from this forum. They were fantastic to work with. I actually have an SX on order with them as well. My wife will take over the EX and we‘ll sell her car.
It’s been about 7 months since we’ve ordered our SX. I know their on top of it. can Anybody share how long their 2022 has been taking to deliver? TIA.
I just picked up our 2022 that was ordered almost exactly a year ago (within a week). Delivered last week while we were on vacation in CO, so re-routed my return flight to Indy and Lucas kindly offered to pick me up at the airport. Got the deal done in record time, and process was very smooth (aided by a slower, rainy morning). Lucas is super responsive and it's obvious their value based on their up front pricing and great reputation.

But yeah, quoted 6-8 months to deliver, took basically a full 12 months.

Thanks for the info. Lucas is my guy as well. He's the best. I drove from Charlotte to Indy to get my EX a year ago. Well worth it. I'll just be patient....congrats on your new Telluride!

Can you share the dealer and state you bought your Telluride . Im looking for a 2023 for MSRP if possible . thanks Brian from DE

Just ordered from MUNCIE KIA ( Lucas ). Gave a $500 deposit on a 2023 Dark moss /Dune SX Prestige ,Nightfall ,Tow & mats for Msrp $51,520. Lucas was excellent easy to work with answered all my questions played no games . The only bad news was he thinks their dealership is a year out with ordered Tellurides 12 months . I live in Delaware and just checked pricing at Spirit airlines. For $139. or there about's is a home run . Muncie will pick me up at airport or del Telluride there to meet me . I noticed on line Muncie Doc fees were only $130 . Can anyone confirm there OTD pricing or any other added fees I'm not aware of ? Just for the record to forum members , I made a spread sheet called most dealers in NC, VA , MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY..... Not one would sell a Telluride for MSRP. Every one of those scumbag dealers contacted were (5k to 8k over sticker ) they will never get my business for a new Kia down the road!! Never !!!
