Order to delivery time

What is kfos. Sorry learning
Welcome,
Kia Forward Ordering System (KFOS). When you place an order at the dealer they use kdealer to “hold” your order. Ask your dealer for your kdealer sheet. You can use it to verify the order is correct based upon your specs. Once a month for 5-7 days Kia will “accept” orders. That is when KFOS opens. The dealer based upon allocations will have their kdealer accepted by KFOS and it turns into an official Kia order. You will also get an ETA a couple days after KFOS closes.
That is also why you need to ask your specific dealer where you are at in line. How many people are ahead of you? You can then look at FC to see the average number of vehicles your dealer gets every month. That will roughly tell you how long it will take for your order to get picked up by KFOS. If your dealer gets only 5 cars a month and you are 8th in line it may take 2 months for your order to get picked up. If your dealer get 35 vehicles a month and you’re 20th in line there is a good chance your order will be picked up during the next KFOS.
There are alot of details in this forum if you just search to get a better idea of the process.

I di do a search for kfos, nothing came up. Learning the site. I do appreciate the answer and the feedback.

If it was picked up you should have a date from Kia. It could certainly change but there should be a date.
Hi. Ordered Wolf Gray SX Prestige, Nightshade 8/1 drove it today, 10/2. 9weeks. Was prepared for December delivery.

Yes, please do - that's a very rare combo. Espresso interior has the potential to be great, I just couldn't pull the trigger on it.

I don't know how you guys do it...

I found a dealer order 2022 SX N/P/T Dark Moss, Black interior on failcat going to my local dealer. Put the deposit down on 10/4 and it'll be delivered ~10/24. Waiting 20 days is driving me nuts but people are waiting months upon months.

Your post makes the process very clear to me now. Thank you!

One follow-up: Does your dealer know if the order was accepted by KFOS while KFOS is open, or not until it closes after the 5-7 days?

And does anybody know the actual KFOS window for this month (October 2021)? Thanks!

Does anyone know when in the process the vehicle shows up on the dealer's website? My VIN was created 9/28, and my car now shows up on the dealer's site. Just wondering where it is in the process when that happens. TIA

I ordered my telluride about a week ago. I was told I am 71st in line at Murray Kia, which gets about 25 a month. My question is, without emailing the dealer every week is there a good way to figure out approximately where I'm at in line? Would counting off vins from my order date, for Murray Kia, on failcat be an accurate way to keep track?

I think it would be an accurate estimate, but not exact. Allocations are based on trim. So are there 71 people in line in front of you for your TRIM or just for a Telluride at all? For example, let's say you are number 71 in line for a Telluride but number 9 in line for an SX and your friend is number 80 in line for a Telluride and also number 9 but for the EX trim. If they get allocations for 3 EX trims a month and only 1 SX trim, It would take you 9 months but your friend who is further behind you in line might get their car faster because it would only take them 3 months for their line.

been waiting since July 5th so just 3 months but I only just got word it was accepted before the plant supposedly shut down the last week in Sept. I still don't have a VIN or ETA yet. I did see where some others have been waiting longer that that. I was thinking of checking dealerships that may have inventory. Llooking at the stats on failcat shows they don't make the EX awd in Sangria but once a month o_O at least the other colors seem to be every week. None coming to my dealer far as I can tell.
My brother ordered a Ford truck in late Aug, already got a vin and production &delivery date. 🤷‍♀️

I didn't realize allocations were based on trim. I'm assuming I'm number 71 overall. I'll have to ask specifically for the sx I guess

Just wait to ask after each KFOS opening, which will be discussed here. There will be no real movement in between. Roger will let you know when your order is picked up.

How often does kfos open? Is it a once a month thing or just random times? I'm just trying to understand how it works exactly.

KFOS is a monthly deal, I believe. I was told by my dealer that they'll know this Wednesday if my order was accepted by KFOS.

I'm coming up on the three month mark here from placing my order. Ordered last week of July, 2022 SX-Prestige, emailed sales rep a few days ago checking in on my status and said they have nothing new to report. Estimation on order was the 5-6 month range. I figured I'd at least have an estimated arrival date/notification that my vehicle has been picked up at this point but maybe just wishful thinking?

Dealership is high volume, according to counts in failcat it's the second highest volume dealer in my state. And the top 2 are almost identical for total cars in the count.

Anyone else run into a delay of nearly 3 months before receiving any sort of comms from your dealership? Seems like a lot of folks on this forum get their VINs and initial ETAs within a couple months. Not upset or anything, just curious/passing the time/looking for commiseration, ha. I don't think I'm going to hit the estimated delivery window at this point, though.

Really helps to know how long the line is to determine how long you'll be waiting. It could be you'll get picked up in October KFOS, and get delivery by December...but again, some folks are waiting 9 months to a year, others get it in 2-3 months. Depends 100% on the dealer you order from and their queue.

I’m in the exact same boat and was wondering the same thing. I ordered an AWD EX on 7/28. I was given an estimate of 2-3 months. I’m at almost 3 months with no updates other than, “we are still waiting”. I’m super baffled by all of it, but I assume it has to do with lower production?
