What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

Per the letter you show, nothing was unfulfilled. Learn and grow wiser.

Correct. It was all verbal. Still, there was a verbal agreement and zero mention of jacking up the price.
 
I don’t think it’s legal to accept a non refundable deposit for a car at ANY price. It allows the dealer to scam every single customer that signs it and leaves a deposit. “Your telluride is in. We want $100k for it. What? You don’t want it? Ok. We are keeping your deposit as per agreement.” I don’t think that would hold up anywhere.

Do your research. There are four essential elements to an enforceable contract. Nothing may be assumed. The price was not agreed upon. The buyer merely gave a deposit for a specific vehicle. He bought it. End of story.

Mrmac, I don’t disagree. However, why wouldn’t this be discussed initially? The only prices discussed three months ago was msrp. Vehicle arrives, and all of a sudden the entire story changes. The sales manager even said the “contract” wasn’t really a contract. He said I could back out when I bought the care a few days ago. In March he said I couldn’t back out. It’s the lack of transparency and shifting stories. I could have walked away from it. Clearly it wasn’t enough for me to to say no. My point again is exactly what you are saying. Do your research. Agree upon a price beforehand. Get it in writing. This dealership is shady with their deals, as manifested by Doug’s comments as well. I’m less than pleased, but I wanted the car. I fully recognize this is on me. However, word of mouth is important and apparently these guys care less. So I’ll continue to bad mouth their tactics because it rubbed me the wrong way. It’s unfortunate because the lower level sales guys are great.

Okay, let's say the exact scenario happened to you, but at the last minute the dealer tells you he must charge you $2,000 less than what you agreed to verbally. Would you still be griping about shady dealer tactics? I think not. Oh, the hypocrisy.

I've been on this site for a few weeks now. It seems like a pretty good community with people sharing ideas and having respectful dialogue. I will say however, I have read only a handful of antagonistic or sarcastic posts and they are all by you. If making people feel stupid and always trying to be right is your motive maybe you should go to Twitter or something like that.

I'm sorry you perceive the things I share in that light. They are not intended that way. I do take issue with incorrect statements, especially those that are emotionally driven. Is it not important to have multiple perspectives which then allow the members of this forum gain a clearer picture? Nonetheless, thank you for your feedback. I will work to sugarcoat and/or soften that things I share so as to be more productive for everyone.

I bought a Dark Moss S here in Broken Arrow Oklahoma from Sean Clemons. The MSRP was $35,789 with floor mats, cargo net, and mud guards added in. I got the $2500 off and out the door price was $33,289. No “market value” markup added in. I’ve already powder coated the wheels and tinted the front two windows. I got it on 6/8/19. Here’s his business card and my name is John Higgins for reference.

Wanted to share my experience on here since it seems to be happening to a few other people. I ordered a Moss Green AWD SX w/ Prestige (+towing package, + floor mats) on 3/21. I finally took delivery yesterday 6/18. When I ordered we sat down, configured my vehicle, printed out a page with the price (it was agreed that I was paying MSRP) which I then signed, and gave them a deposit. I had a conversation with my salesperson and the finance manager about whether we needed to work up the contract right then and they both insisted that that was not necessary and it was not their dealerships policy to do it that way.

Fast forward to yesterday when I show up to pick up my shiny new Telluride and they have added $7,000 in additional costs above MSRP ($4,000 market adjustment + $3000 other "packages"). I'll spare you all the details but let's just say that I spent the next 2 hours with them telling me that if I didn't accept all the charges their owner wouldn't sell me my car that I ordered. They then told me that I didn't have a contract with them (remember I tried to get them to do one and they refused). After another hour of forcing them to call the owner at home, calling into question how ethical their business practices were and letting them know that I would unleash a social media barrage of commentary on their dealership and practices I finally got the deal done. I left paying my agreed MSRP price +$300 for an "etch" fee that they wouldn't let go of (and at that point I just wanted to go home and get some dinner). Still not happy with how the whole thing shook out.....but very happy to have my Telluride.

I come from an Economics/Finance background so I'm all for letting supply and demand dictate the true market price, but I'm also a retail executive who knows the power treating your customers right and if you agreed to do something for them you do it. Too many bad decisions on the part of too many people during this transaction. Take it for what its worth....just my opinion on my situation.

For now I'll just enjoy my new ride.

I plan on doing a chrome delete and removing all badges like I’ve done to my Camry and Equinox.

Nice! I wish I had your skills. Sounds like we had very similar experiences. Sometimes I wish I had just walked and waited for all the hype to die down. On a side note, Kia contacted me and honored my founders club deal.

Anyone on here buy SXP/ tow package in Denver, CO? My order is due to come in two weeks and I am wondering if I will have any negotiating power. Also not worried about walking away if they bump the price up
 
When I read your story in this thread, it looks like you're in Colorado Springs and working with Peak Kia where I got a overpriced quote. I felt they were shady as they were not clear about the price I would pay when I put an order.
It seems like you already submitted a case to Kia customer service which I'd suggest. I assume you submitted the case to https://ksupport.kiausa.com/ConsumerAffairs

I'm in Colorado and bought a SX at MSRP, and received all Kia rebates($2500) including $1500 KMF rebate with 1.9% APR for 48 months. You must be eligible for $1500/1.9%/48 months, too.

Where in Colorado/ what dealer?

When I ordered my sxp I used the online builder. Added in what I wanted and the dealer printed off a copy with the price and had me sign it. I was told the incentives in place when I took delivery would apply. The sales guy took the stuff and got my in the system and ordered the car. He came back later and said everything was good. A couple of days later I asked if I could use my founders club coupon and he said I could and took a copy of that. Just waiting on a delivery date. I ordered late April.
 
I was in the Springs, and honestly wished I would have waited. I didn’t need the car right at the moment. I’m curious how your experience will turn out.

can't believe how many south floridians are in this thread. LOL west palm here. got mine from Grieco Kia.
