Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Sorry for the long reply but...

I don't think I am bitter but with being in my 70s ...I have seen BS and Know poor customer service...sort of "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining." Excuses are like farts...you know something happened but no tangible proof beyond the sound and/or scent. While I am waiting for my TR...our washing machine crapped out. I went to Lowe's and put down cash on a new one then was told that because of their deliverers schedule, it couldn't be delivered for 2 weeks... Though I was disappointed..(Read Wife was even more)... I accepted this and waited. It was delivered at exactly 2 weeks. When it was opened, it was dented all to hell so I wanted a replacement. I was told I had to wait 8 more days... again it was blamed on the delivery schedules. That ran up my red flag... but waited...8 more days...total now 22 days before I got WHAT I ORDERED in acceptable shape.

So, here is the REAL reason for 22 days... I found out LOWEs decided they will NOT pay any overtime to clear up the backlog, thus NO CUSTOMER service. Having bought appliances in the past... companies would go out of their way to make sure their mistakes were corrected with...THE CUSTOMER. Those days sadly are diminishing at the Store/Customer level. Excuses are just that... the predescribed farts and it can cause you to not do business with them again. My uncle use to grow and sell crops... He delivered weekly to many customers. IF a customer had a problem with the corn or potatoes... and they told him...he went out of his way to correct and many times even gave them their next order for no charge and he was able to keep them as a customer because of his CUSTOMER SERVICE. He even GAVE a Baker's Dozen to his customers at times....He worked HARD to keep his customers happy and thus assured the relationship continued. That seems to have been forgotten by big business...

I am too far into this to dump my order. But if this is what it is now like...I can't wait to see what the issues Chevy will have when people begin to order the 2020 $60k Mid-Engined Corvette. Again...I have lived long enough to see how CUSTOMER SERVICE has depleted rather than saving the integrity of the business. Yup...now next time I may need another appliance, I may go to another source.

I know this is off the subject of my TR but there is a point in it. Again, my order was an SXP.... AWD with tow. Excuses have been from lack of the NAPA seats and other components of the Prestige package. Planning and prior market research would have indicated what many people would order and they could have anticipated better.. So,now 4 months in and no VIN or a bolt thrown down in West Point...well all I hear and smell is the fart.....no honest acceptance of blame. No correction planned. All I wanted is what I ordered in a reasonable time span. I don't think that is unreasonable. When I talked to Irvine, CA they actually were surprised and had thought it should have taken 6-8 weeks... this from their HQ! Sniff Sniff!!

I do think they underestimated demand for the SXP - but now having the Palisade Limited arriving will help ease that demand going forward. These are MY 2020 vehicles - which typically don't arrive at the dealerships until August / September time frame - but Kia decided to go ahead with production and start selling in late Feb. So, hopefully in time their supply chain will improve and they may eventually (in several years time) be able to produce like Toyota and Honda to support a comparable sales pace - if it stays elevated. They really did a blitz on the marketing for the Telluride SXP - perhaps a bit to early! For what it's worth, I think the Southwest (and California) have been the last to receive Tellurides... it seems that regionally, a lot went to the Midwest - particularly AWD models. Perhaps they wanted to get them out there ahead of the fall/winter? Who knows... but getting an AWD in California and Texas has been a really long wait. I've based this casual observation on the inventory searches nationwide during the past few months - but the numbers seem to bear that out too per another post on here.

Am I crazy to ask for the sx WITHOUT the prestige? Because for me, I don't really care about the features in it. Not downing anyone who wants it by any means, of course I hear the one I want is basically nowhere to be found

We bought our Telluride from DARCARS Kia in Temple Hills, Maryland (outside of Washington, D.C.). Our salesman was Kirk Newman. He was great, transparent and gave us numbers upfront. He was not pushy and gave us plenty of time to make our decision. One of the best salesmen we have ever come across. We bought ours for MSRP and ended up getting around $5100 in rebates (military, competitive advantage, and finance rebate.) Out the door price was $37650 for an LX AWD.

I’d like to give a shout out to Halleen Kia in North Olmsted, Ohio. After waiting since early April for my white SX Prestige (ordered 4/4), I finally gave up on my Telluride dream yesterday when my 8/23 delivery date became some undetermined date in the future (maybe September?). I cancelled my order out of frustration and the need of a car. Despite this, the people at Halleen Kia were helpful and responsive throughout these many months. At the time of order, we agreed to an out-the-door price; which was MSRP with no attempts at marking-up the price. Today I asked about my $500 non-refundable deposit and was told that I would have to discuss it with the GM. He returned my call this evening and could not have been more professional and understanding. He had no problem with refunding my deposit. I wanted to mention this because there are so many bad dealer stories. While I walk away without my Telluride, I think it’s important to share a story where the dealer experience turned out to be a class act - even when they didn’t get the sale.

Good experience with Mike Cross at Bill Byrd Kia in Panama City. Easy buying process and although they tried to sell the warranties (of course) there wasn’t a ton of pressure. We were in a hurry and they tried to get us out as fast as they could.

Steve Lawler (financing) was great as well.

Huffines Kia McKinney is an honest straight-forward dealer. Will order what you want for msrp. No BS or hassle. Salesman Veerendra Kaja (813-450-8836) took all the information by text and placed order. Will keep you apprised of any updates to your order.

Kia of South Austin usually adds a $1700 'appearance package' to every sale. However, the general manager, Brian Chury, (512-444-6635 or by email bchury@gpi.Kiaofsouthaustin.com) says he'll special order at msrp.

Napleton's Kia of Urbana Illinois is a straight up good dealer. Actually advertised a new Telluride at $200 off msrp. Sales manager, Don-Trell Foster (847-970-0349) was super easy to deal with. Highly recommend. They also sell Hyundai and had a couple of Palisade.

Napleton's Elgin Kia responded to a Costco Auto Program inquiry, which may be $500 to $1000 discount off msrp for Costco members. Contact Dave Lamoso, (847-717-8800) 909 E. Chicago St. Elgin, IL 60120

Huffines in McKinney is were I bought my Telluride from and totally agree with using them. I ordered mine on March 21 being a Black Copper SXP AWD Brown Dune Leather with Towing and my salesperson was Kevin. It was totally first class and no hassles or added items on cost. Got what I ordered the way I ordered. Yes it took 96 days to get mine in but the dealership had no control over that. And I love the Black Copper.

University KIA in Durham NC is where I bought mine and I recommend them for sure. After a mishap with another dealer's order to get an SX AWD Black/Black I called University and found out they had a Black SXP coming in... over the phone that's all I knew so I drove over and with VIN in hand it was a Black Copper SXP AWD Dune Brown with Towing. Put money down at MSRP and it was delivered 11 days later. Everyone I dealt with (internet sales, front desk, salesperson in training) were extremely nice 'even' the sales manager which normally get a bad wrap. Sorry I did not have to wait 96 days, but I did wait 42 days due to the mishap, and I did call at least 10 dealerships to get on lists, search inventory, and ultimately found this one that promised MSRP. Another satisfied with Black Copper.

Welcome to the black copper group glad you got a Telluride
Have fun and be safe and congrats

I got mine over the weekend in las vegas. I live in the orange county, california. I was going to make a deposit for a black on black S AWD at MSRP with them but was reluctant to pull the trigger because I wasn't sure if the $1500 would be there when I got the car 3 months from the date of order. But last week they called me up and asked me if I would take a gravity grey with black interior with some other options already installed for MSRP. So I agreed. I also got $1500 rebate (1.9% rate). Now I am a proud owner of an S AWD. I noticed that on the way home from vegas, I actually got an average MPG of 27.7 on a AWD truck. That is not bad at all. My first Kia automobile -:)
Which KIA dealership did you purchase at in Las Vegas? Jim Marsh or Findlay? What was the name of your salesperson so that I can give you a reference bonus if everything works out? Thanks!

After inquiring all over southern California, I settled on Kearny Mesa KIA in San Diego. The salesperson I dealt with (Wesley) was very reasonable and forthright and didn't try to push the whole "did you know these are hot right now?" markup thing on me. I had him order me an SXP in gravity/black at MSRP. Looking forward to its eventual arrival and will update this forum if/when things change!

I ordered my White/Black SXP through Van Griffith Kia in Granbury, TX. They placed the order at MSRP. We are extremely happy with the service we received. Everything was done over the phone as we are located in Houston. Communication was excellent, with an update every week even if the update was "there is no update".

Pickup was a breeze. Everything was exactly as described with no surprises. They gave me a great deal on my trade in. I couldn't be happier and will certainly continue to give this dealership my business in the future.

Ordered from Citrus Motors Ontario SoCal. Nick Morales very helpful and willing to sell at MSRP if you order. Non commission sales. He is honest and upfront on cost. Nick spent time with me and went thru all the options and difference's with the different models. No hard sale. Nick Morales 909-740-6264

We decided to road trip out to Kia of Muncie this weekend since we ordered over the phone. Met Lucas who is taking care of our order. Bunch of nice people and a clean updated dealership. They showed us around and had 1 LX on the lot which they let us look through it. Checked out their other vehicles on the lot also. They have a new blue Forte GT on the lot..what a beautiful car. If we didn't need the room of the Telluride, the Forte would definitely be a strong consideration. They have really upped the game on that car. Not a fan of the new Soul though.. don't like the front end very much, but still better than Hyundai front ends for sure.

Great experience with Motion Kia in Hackettstown, NJ! No hassle, easy to deal with. MSRP, no markups, and honored incentives. My initial email was on 8/30, about noon. Steve M responded quickly to all my questions about cost, providing all numbers requested. Made an appt for the next morning to test drive the S AWD. Took the test drive, discussed the differences (options & price) between the S and EX. Picked the S (gravity grey) and drove her off the lot within a couple hours....it took longer to decide which one I wanted than to complete the paperwork!

We were pleased with our experience at Moritz Kia Hurst. No mark up- the price quoted us when we ordered was what we payed. This is the second vehicle we bought there.

Hi, you mentioned you bought at MSRP. Is that with them keeping the 1500 KIA discount? Their dealership website and when calling them, they are marking up the MSRP. Can you please elaborate on the final price?

A big thumbs up to Kia of Muncie. No hassle and Costco discount. After putting a non-refundable deposit for an SX P with a dealer north of SLC for MSRP, I was informed by them that they put the 2K paint and tire protection package on all Telluride's. My local dealer in SoCal marks up 8K. Searched WA and they were all 2K over. Car is to be kept in MT. Local MT dealer never got back to me. Even eating the $500 and flying in plus the driving costs, I'm still a few hundred ahead. If the Kia discount is available at delivery, I'll get that discount, too.
